I'm from Illinois and I'm wanting to get married in TN. My Fiance and I have had a lot of things take a turn since trying to plan our wedding. The date we set is 6/30/12 and we are wanting to keep that. Now we are just trying to find a location to have our ceremony & reception. We would like to have both in the same location to better accommodate our guest. We are having about 50 people total and are trying not to go over $5,000. We already have our own photographer and dj booked which is about $3,500, that is why we are trying to stay around $5,000 for the remaining must haves. However, I am having a few problems. All of the locations I have found are little higher than we want to spend or....they wont allow you to bring your own photographer..and that is one thing I am NOT willing to let go..and some of their photographers are not that great.

Any suggestions, pictures or pricing on locations would be great.

Hi,
I am so sorry to hear about your bad luck - especially so close to your special day. My first recommendation would be to try "CJ's off the Square" in Franklin, TN. That is actually where we are getting married and they are very affordable and would allow you to bring in your own vendors. It is a cute old, historic home with a beautiful garden in the back with koi fish ponds. Their max capacity is 135 people, but around or under 100 would be best, so 50 is perfect. My only worry would be that they are already booked.

Other venues might be:
- Lillibelles in Franklin, TN (but they may require you to use their photographer)
- Events at 1418 - really really cool venue downtown, is same company that is doing our catering - http://maineventpro.com/#/1418/
- The Cannery Ballroom
- The Patron Club (at Bridgestone Arena)
- The Bellemeade Plantation
- The Red House in Franklin, TN
- Houston Station

A great Nashville wedding site with loads of great vendors and information is http://ashleysbrideguide.com/
I would definitely go there for planning assistance.

I hope that's a good start - let me know if it helps and I'd be happy to offer more assistance.

-Laura

Try Maggiano's Little Italy 3106 West End Avenue Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 514-0270 Do the dinner package not the wedding package. Far less expensive. We used our own dj, photographer, brought in our own cake from Publix bakery dept. They were very accommodating. Let us decorate and used one room for ceremony the opened the wall and used that area for the dance floor. Most people only know the restaurant upstairs. There is a whole catering area on the main level. We got some beautiful pictures outside by the neighboring glass building, the spring flowers and huge lawn. Were married Mid May 2011

Dear Illinois, I can appreciate your circumstances (as we too were in the same boat). We're Catholic and as such the Cathedral downtown was our answer. The reasons were as follows:
1. The Flemming Center was $500 to rent for our reception and they were very agreeable for allowing us to bring in our own caterer, bar, music, flowers and photographer.
2. Location was ... Easy in, Easy out from the airport (with plenty of hotels walking distance). You're also a 5 minute cab ride to downtown activities.
3. Check out Amber Beckham Photography (amberbeckham.com). Very reasonable, very professional, VERY good value. Let her know Brad and Linda Wilson) sent you. You can actually see images of the Cathedral on her website.
4. Caterer: Check out DownSouth Delights and ask for Rita. Tell her we sent you. www.downsouthdelightscatering.com

Can't remember what my wife did for flowers but it was something local and very affordable. She also rented an entire tent and chairs, tables, couches, etc. for decorating the inside of the Flemming Center in the Cathedral for the reception.

Everything went VERY well. Good luck to you.

Dear Illinois,

Also ... if you are looking for a very good place for a rehearsal dinner ... Try MERCHANTS downtown. Merchants

www.merchantsrestaurant.com

No corkage fee ... so you can supply your own wine. Secure the 3rd floor for private dinning parties.

I highly recommend the University Club of Nashville (http://uclubnashville.org/) They will allow you to bring in your own cake, photographer, and florist. They also have table linens and china, so you don't have to worry about that. My husband and I also used Publix for our cake, and it was wonderful...they even delivered the cake and set it up for us at the University Club, so we had one less thing to worry about. Also, if you don't have a florist already, I HIGHLY recommend Caprice Palmer of the Enchanted Florist. Tell her Stephanie Martin sent you if you use her! She exceeded my expectations for the flowers! AND, she was the most reasonably priced of all the florists I talked with. She will work with any budget. Hope that helps!
