My fiancee and i each have children from our previous marriage. We will have our kids standing up with us as our attendants and i was wondering about special ways of including them in the ceremony. Their ages range from 6 up to 17. Any ideas?

During the ceremony in place of the unity candle, you can do a sand ceremony and have each child add in a different color of sand while the officiator reads a special passage to embrace the union of the two families. Then keep your special sand container on the mantel. You may even consider having the glass etched with names w/ sand colors & date. This is just one unique idea, of many to consider.

We're blending two families too! I have a 5 year old son, and he has two sons, 9 & 11, and a 14 year old daughter.
We had a lot of fun last weekend dyeing sand for the unity "sand art". Instead of buying the limited choices of different colored sand from Michaels, ($5 for a small bag), I purchased 50lbs of silica sand from home depot for $10! We each had our own bowl of wet sand, and added different amounts of green and blue food coloring. It was fun to do together, and they are each going to add their color to the unity sand art during the ceremony, as well as us, to symbolize the families coming together in a beautiful way :D

We also are working on a music video to show at the reception! Its fun to film and will be fun to show, and will have all the kids in it! The teen is one of my bridesmaids, and the his two sons are two of the groomsmen, and my 5 year old is the ringbearer. We'll have 4 attendances each.

Have a lovely day! I can't wait for ours!
