Hi there -- I live in Boston (but originally from NY), and am also planning our wedding in Miami. In my experience, hair and makeup trials have never been free --whether you are the bride or member of the wedding party. They should, however, be a bit less expensive than the actual day of costs. I imagine some independent hair and makeup artists (or day spa/salons) might roll the cost into one single fee, but really you are paying for both in the end regardless.

P.S. If you are looking for someone fabulous who does on location makeup, I highly recommend Maritza Valle (AKA Makeup by Marz: http://www.makeupbymarz.com/)! And Maritza referred me to Nicole Peglow for hair. I have nothing but rave reviews for both!

P.P.S. Forgot to mention costs! I found the 2010 fees ranged anywhere from $65 - 100 for the trial, and up to $200 for day of. If it's someone you trust and whose work you love, it's worth it! (That is why the trial run is so important...)
