< back to topic list >Ideas for beach wedding reception?
I need ideas for a thrifty wedding reception. We're getting married in Pawley's Island in October, and since my fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves (everything), we're not sure what to do about the reception. I wanted a seafood boil/cook-out on the beach, but I have no idea how to go about planning that! Any ideas would be much appreciated!

I'm also getting married on the beach!! I'm so excited! I'm also in the same situation! I don't want to spend too much money!! I am getting married in a small ceremony on the beach...the JP to marry us is only $140 which isn't bad. And then I'm having a reception at a restaurant! I am only providing light refreshments and if they want a meal they can order and pay for it themselves!! My total bill will probably be around $150!! Cakes by The Sea is a great cake place!!
I'm sold on the idea of light refreshments. What are you going to do if the wedding day is rainy? That's where I am stuck. I found a restaurant that responded to my email about a set-budget (I haggled- esp. in this economy!), but now I'm concerned about the weather for the ceremony itself!
so did you need a special permit or anything to get married on the beach - how are you planning it - i want to get married on the beach over memorial day weekend - but i dont know how t oplan it - its only going to be family & a few friends so i dont need seating :) how did you get a jp? thanks for your help and ideas

I would like to know the name of the restaurant as we are trying to book some kind of reception for our son and have no ideas!
Thanks.
Harrelson's seafood in Murrells Inlet may be able to do something like that. Also, a lot of the local barbeque places have a shrimp boil as a catering option for a very reasonable price. I know Hog Heaven in Paweley's does it, and I believe Prosser's in Murrells Inlet may as well.
If you're looking for a photographer, I highly recommend Christa Harder. She did my photos, and I still go back and look at them on at least a weekly basis and am amazed every time I do. www.christaharder.com
