There are some greats out there-- what are your likes in terms of photography? Are you looking for someone local or would you be willing to bring in someone from out of town?
-- Local planner
as far as the style of the photographer, i like a lot of candids as opposed to the traditional posed shots with everyone just lined up. I like a more "artsy" feel to the pictures, and perhaps a journalistic approach that could tell the story of the day.
I would love local suggestions, because i could then meet the photographer in person before booking, but i am also open to non-local suggestions if anyone has a good personal recommendation.
Thanks for the help!
Good-- so glad you said that!
Check out these people:
Brooke Roberts www.brookerobertsphotography.com (she is local; in Brunswick)
Agnes Lopez www.agneslopez.com (in Jacksonville; her work is beautiful. I work with her next weekend.)
Scarlett Lillian www.scarlettlillian.com (also in Jacksonville; have worked a lot with her and her work is fabulous)
La Dolce Vita www.ladolcevitastudio.com (also in Jacksonville; their work is ridiculously awesome.)
Donna Von Bruening www.dvbphoto.com (she is in Savannah, but her work is phenomenal).
Anna and Spencer www.annaandspencer.com (they are a great couple to work with-- I have known them for years and have worked well with them. They have shot previously at Sea Island. They are in ATL but travel frequently to the area because Spencer is originally from here).
I hope these help you-- if not, let me know!
PS: Just remembered this as I hit save, LOL. Check this blog post:
It has the twitter and web addresses of local wedding vendors. This might be helpful too with the photographers.
We used Lee Morris. (www.rlmorrisweddings.com) He is out of Charleston, and a little more expensive that some locals, but well worth it. My husband is a professional photographer (doesn't shoot weddings) and the pictures were absolutely the most important thing to us. We had never met Lee until the day of our wedding, but coordinated everything over phone or email. He was without a doubt, the best money spent! We (and everyone who saw our pictures) were completely thrilled with the end product.
We used MeWha Crosby (and her husband as a second shooter). www.mewha.com. Absolutely loved the photos. She makes incredible albums that are very unique as well. She lives somewhere in South Georgia but traveled to Atlanta to meet with me (before I signed with her) and then traveled for our wedding weekend at St. Simons Island. I've had so many people (even friends of friends) comment on the photos. I would recommend her without hesitation. Happy Wedding Planning!! :)
Check out http://www.ssieventinfo.com for a complete listing of wedding vendors on St Simons Island. We used Jimmy Ho Photography out of Gainesville, FL - he was incredible!
