Our wedding in Islamorada was a dream! I cannot imagine a more perfect location. In mid-November we got fantastic weather and we loved having a ceremony and reception that was completely outdoors. The private estate location allowed us to build the event we envisioned with no rules or restrictions. We also enjoyed not just one wedding day, but 4 days of events and relaxation with our closest friends and family. This was truly a dream wedding come true!
Caribbean Catering provided the rentals, staff, wedding coordination, and food for my November 14th private estate wedding in Islamorada, FL. They did an absolutely phenomenal job! Debbie really took an interest in every detail of my wedding and her recommendations on other vendors were fantastic. This is an extremely organized small business! Debbie is familiar with all the private estates in the area and if you hire Floral Fantasy for flowers she will work with them to make sure everything is perfection. Debbie met with me at the estate location on the Thursday before our wedding to do a walk through of how everything would be set up - she even brought flower samples from Floral Fantasy to that meeting to make sure the colors were as I wanted. In the days before and after the wedding, they handled all of the ceremony and reception set up and breakdown. I was provided an excellent day of coordinator. On the day of the wedding, the food was absolutely magnificent and Debbie's staff was incredible. Our guests loved the food and raved about the service. Some of the dishes I loved were the caribbean salad, the Mojo pulled pork with Caribbean BBQ sauce, the super fresh mahi mahi, and their cucumber and carrot "noodles" were absolutely to die for!
Jay Floyd of the Islands DJ Service and his assistant did a very good job. The music was great and it kept everyone dancing all night. Jay also kept us organized and on track while planning our ceremony music in the weeks before the wedding and at the wedding he helped us through a few snafus with other vendors and setting up.
I absolutely loved my flowers from Floral Fantasy. I wanted peonies in November and Debbie delivered! The deep pink/purple peonies combined with green cymbidium orchids (and ivory roses in my bouquet) were nothing short of breathtaking. Not only is Debbie incredibly talented, she is also a wonderful, friendly person to work with. She even coordinated with Debbie at Caribbean Catering to make sure everything was perfectly set up at the wedding. I highly recommend both of these vendors.
All of our guests who stayed at the Islander were very happy with it. They loved the private porches and kitchens that came with each room. Although this isn't the fanciest place in Islamorada, it was affordable and provided everything our guests needed along with friendly service. The rooms are updated with a pottery-barn type decor.
We had a nice lunch here when we first arrived in Islamorada. Their fresh catch of the day (mahi mahi) sandwich was delicious and their pina coladas were strong and affordable. However, he service was a little slow and definitely not the friendliest I've ever experienced.
After our wedding in Islamorada, we stayed here for three days. The Mermaid & the Alligator is heavenly. Beautifully decorated and a wonderful staff. Geri, the concierge, is so helpful and kind! This is also the only B&B I could find in Key West that serves a full hot breakfast every morning (not just a continental breakfast). We stayed in the Garden Room for our mini-moon (lovely!) and are looking forward to staying in the Bamboo Room this November for our 1 year anniversary.
