Getting married in Kauai was a dream come true. Aside from its natural beauty and delicious fare, the vendors have the wedding process down pat. We had no worries other than the weather (it poured rain the morning of our wedding!) but it was dry by 3 p.m. on Shipwreck beach. I have no complaints about our vendors - all were attentive and courteous - especially Kauai Island Weddings, our photographers. We kept costs low by inviting only 15 of our closest friends and family, but had one amazing, fun adventure!
Ann Marie did a beautiful job on my hair the morning of my wedding. She styled and curled my hair, added extensions, and placed the delicate orchids I brought along from the florist. She soothed my jitters and gave me a great price compared to the prohibitively expensive Poipu area costs. What a great way to begin my wedding day!
Shipwreck beach was quiet and romantic. We loved the panoramic ocean views and backdrop of Shipwreck point. It's an excellent spot for a Poipu area wedding. Two tips - be ready to walk through a somewhat forested path on your way to the eastern most point. And you might have to photoshop hikers out of the point, as they like to hike to the top for the view.
Very nice choice that allowed our families to congregate and book rooms near each others'. Guests that booked later stayed in Prince Kuhio, across the street from Kuhio Shores. No swimming beach but great turtle watching from the balcony, and nice green lawn to lounge on.
Plantation Gardens was the most excellent location for our ceremony. Guests were very pleased with its Hawaiian plantation charm and high quality service. Our coordinator, Mona, helped us with every detail months in advance and up to our wedding day. The grounds were gorgeous and idyllic for photos. The food, cocktails, and cake were to die for. My husband and I plan to go back there to dine on a future special occasion.
A great, big, family park perfect for a big BBQ. You'll need a permit from the Kauai parks department but it's very affordable and allows alcohol and guests to stay until 11 p.m. Our pavilion had electric lighting, bathrooms, and trash cans nearby. Gets breezy in the evening so lighting the grills took some effort. Bring a stereo and games for extra fun!
