We were married on the only rainy Saturday in the month of October in Cold Spring and Garrison, NY. Oh well. It was still beautiful that time of year. It was peak fall foliage there and with the Hudson river, the area is very scenic. The only issue is that the nearest hotels are in Fishkill some 20 minutes away. There are a few bed and breakfasts in and around Cold Spring, but depending on the size of your wedding, it can be a logistical nightmare to have your guest scattered at different establishments. All-in-all, we were very happy with our choice of location. If we had to do it again, that is the one thing I wouldn't change.
They were recommended by a co-worker who went to a wedding where they played. Couldn't have been happier. People are still telling us how the band was excellent! Bud was extremely accommodating with our budget. They are musicians first and foremost. They did many different styles from jazz to rock to R&B for our wedding. We were extremely happy with their performance.
Used them for our limo to get from the hotel to the church to the reception site then back to the hotel at the end of the night and the shuttle for our guests as well. Not very responsive in the back and forth with planning the transportation. Had to confirm with them a number of times and they constantly got the information wrong on the contract which they had to fix numerous times. The drivers also got lost between venues. This is unacceptable. If they know each venue ahead of time, they need to have directions ready.
Loved, loved, loved our cake! Stephanie, the owner, sat with us and said yes to every request. The cake was even more delicious than the tasting. The design was everything we wanted and more. Don't go anywhere else if you are looking for a wedding cake in the area.
Lauren captured the wedding beautifully in the documentary style we were looking for. The lighting and mood she was able to capture actually made a rainy day seem ethereal and beautiful. Lots of beautiful pictures from the entire night. She is actually based out of Brooklyn (like us) but we paid for her to travel and she was well worth it.
Flowers were lovely overall. The bridesmaids bouquets and table arrangements were beautiful and she did exactly what we had asked. The only minor thing was that my bouquet wasn't quite what I wanted. Honestly, though, I'm not big on flowers so I wasn't stressed about it. As long as it was pretty, it was fine with me!
We used their apple cider donuts as double duty table chart and wedding favor. We also bought some small apple cider bottles that they press there to put in the hotel gift bags. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The donuts were baked fresh and were delicious!
My dress was custom made by Yvonne who owns a shop called Kimera in Brooklyn. I found a dress I liked at one of those big wedding dress places but there were so many things I wanted to change about it that making all the alterations would have cost an additional $700. Yvonne was able to create the exact dress I wanted at an extremely reasonable price. I absolutely loved it. She also custom made all of the bridesmaid's dresses. We just chose the fabric, color and style that flattered everyone.
A very beautiful venue. This was exactly where we wanted to have our reception as soon as we saw the place. The staff was excellent. Our guests even mentioned it. Can't say enough about the chef, Eric. He was fantastic and went above and beyond. Some of the guests said it was the best wedding food they've ever had! I concur.
I was a bit peeved when we went to check in and our "honeymoon suite" was on the ground floor with a view of the parking lot. We changed rooms no problem but then we never got our special amenities package that they promised (free robes, fruit and cheese platter, champagne, etc.). It may have been because we had changed rooms but still, when they're using this to entice you to book wedding blocks with them and not deliver...it was annoying to say the least. They were mixing up a lot of hotel gift bags. There were a few weddings there that same weekend and I guess it made for a less than stellar experience. Rooms are nice and comfortable. Another peeve was that our wedding block rates actually were more than the AAA discount they were offering that week! They wouldn't give us the lower rate which to me seemed unfair since our guests booked in advance while anyone booking closer to the date and weren't part of the wedding could get a room for a lower rate. Please someone, explain that to me.
Didn't stay there on our wedding night but had a few guests who did. We did stay here once before the wedding during the planning stages. Fine rooms, clean, attentive staff, warm cookies at the front desk. No complaints.
Father McSweeney officiated. He performed a very warm and memorable ceremony. Jeffrey, the music director was terrific. He played a wonderful accompaniment to a special song my Aunt and Uncle sang during the exchange of rings and there wasn't a dry eye in the church. Anna, the church secretary was so helpful with every question this non-Catholic bride had regarding getting married in a Catholic church. We took the pre-Cana class with Anna's husband, Peter and it was a great experience. I can't say enough about everyone there.
Beautiful grounds overlooking the Hudson river. We were going to take our formal portraits here. Too bad it rained so we weren't able to go. We had made a deposit and they were very prompt in returning it.
Didn't stay here, only a few guests stayed here but didn't hear anything negative.
Ate here one night. The food was pretty good. Wait staff was nice and friendly. Was considering it for the rehearsal dinner but the space wasn't conducive for our party.
We have eaten here for lunch many times during our trips up to the venue (since it is actually part of our venue). The food is fantastic. A great little place to stop for lunch or dinner. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area.
Overall, they were okay. My hair (updo) was nice but fell down by the end of the night. The bridesmaids hairs looked pretty bad straight out of the salon. There were some fixes that needed to be made when we got back to the hotel. Thank God I did a makeup trial beforehand because it was bad. Worse than bad, it was pretty terrible. I ended up doing my own makeup for the wedding.
Our rehearsal dinner was here. We booked the place before we tried it out because it was conveniently located to the church, they were right by the river with great views and the place was the perfect ambiance and size for our party. I was a bit nervous because we ate here a few times and frankly, the food was barely just okay. We were quite surprised at the rehearsal dinner when they delivered on the food. It was definitely much better than what we had sampled during our few dinners in the main dining room. The wait staff was excellent. We ended up being very happy with our choice when this was one of our biggest worries coming in.
