Our wedding was very simple and warm and all we really wanted was for the day to be a celebration for ourselves and our family and friends. We had about 100 guests and, in hindsight, really nothing went wrong. We spent 15 months researching and planning the wedding and in the end, everything was absolutely amazing, although it all went by much too quickly.
We had so much cake people were taking home a week's worth by the end of the night. We did table sized cakes for all of the tables, plus a two tiered cake for us to cut in to. All of the cakes were absolutely stunningly beautiful and I don't think anyone we talked to didn't mention how fantastic the cake was right from the start. Lisa is wonderful.
Wonderful as well!! The flowers were not only beautifully done but also exceeded my expectations, even though I had heard wonderful things about Carrie's work. The bouquets doubled as the centerpieces for the head table and small votives were placed around the cakes on the tables. Everything was understated and yet absolutely lovely.
I actually wish that I could give Poffie Girls 0 stars, but I am okay with the 1 star due to the fact that the two ladies that helped me correct all of the lies and mistakes made by the owners and management were wonderful. I will not go in to details but I have never felt more disrespected in my life. I honestly felt like a plus-sized dollar sign every time I walked in to that store and had any contact with the management. This was the biggest mistake I made during the wedding planning process.
Reverend Nagy was wonderful and took different aspects of both my husband and myself and blended them wonderfully in to our ceremony. We had a nondenominational service and it was uniquely "us" and perfect.
Eddie Stokes is based out of Raleigh and does photography on the weekends. He is very reasonably priced for the quality of photos that he takes, and he is the sweetest person you will ever meet. Our main concern was not necessarily having the most expensive photographer or elaborate photos, but having a photographer that we trusted, whose personality complimented ours, and who wouldn't be a distraction. Eddie did everything incredibly quickly and would show up just in time to take a great photo and then disappear again to take a few different angles. He was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. The other wonderful thing is that his basic package includes all day coverage, so we had him for 10 hours on the day of the wedding and he was just as energetic and wonderful at noon as he was at 10 PM.
My ONLY problem with St. Mary's Chapel is that you only have it available to you for 2 hours. You have to be very careful in how you plan your events of the day so as not to arrive too early and interrupt the wedding before you, or to leave too late and hold up the wedding after you. Other than that, it's perfect. Wonderful location, fantastic for photos, and just very intimate and peaceful inside.
I loved Byron's from the moment I saw it and they definitely did everything beautifully. I didn't have to worry about setting up, tearing down, or having to hunt down anything on the day of the wedding. It is a stunning location, and the fact that a catering company (with AMAZING food) owns the location makes things incredibly easy. Best Impressions Catering (the owners) makes phenomenal food that is quite affordable and Byron's was the perfect setting for our intimate, yet diverse wedding.
