Our wedding worked out to be a pretty fantastic day/weekend. We live an hour south of Springfield so the vendors we chose were very close together, which made it easier for out of town guests as well. For our rehearsal dinner we ended up going to Mike's American Grill (about 1-2 miles from the Hilton Springfield) without reservations. The staff was so helpful and our guests were able to all sit in one area of the restaurant upstairs (about 15 tables).
Waterford Receptions at Springfield was a wonderful experience. Our guests felt so pampered. My husband and I had a sweetheart table, where we had our own, private wait staff to get us whatever we needed. A little more pricey though.
Wonderful hotel, free shuttle to/from Waterford Receptions, Houlihans Bar was open until 2am the night of our wedding so we (and many of our guests) were able to hang out there after the reception was over.
Wonderful church and close proximity to the reception site--Waterford Receptions. This church is non-denominational but requires the couple to go through counseling, done by the church or their own pastors. Couples can use the church's pastor or bring in their own for the ceremony. This church requires that you hire their wedding coordinator who sets up times, music, etc. for the rehearsal/ceremony, and is paid by the hour.
We had our wedding at the end of July and the heat in the building was unbearable--I felt so bad for our guests during the ceremony.
Within walking distance to the Hilton Springfield, which gave our guests some flexibility of where to stay.
