I contacted him by phone and reviewed his website. The prices were the best that I had seen, he has tons of experience and all of the reviews were positive so I booked him. He did the music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception in 3 different locations by himself which was no easy feat so that is a huge plus. He arrived on time for set up and was ready to go but when the reception started, he pulled me aside and said that he wasn't a fan of the Must Play songs that I had sent him so he wanted to mix it up. I told him that was okay because I wasn't expecting him to play only my picks one after the other but as the reception went on, he didn't play ANY of our Must Play songs unless we specifically requested them. He has a huge music selection so he accommodated all of them but it was annoying to have to think of them off the top of my head when I just wanted to keep dancing.
Kristin is perfection. She is funny, sharp, snarky and really cares about the work that she does. She even came to my house for our initial meeting, whipped out the iPad and started to show me everything which was awesome. She is not the typical wedding personality and she takes risks which always work out so I trusted her immediately. On the wedding day, she moved quickly and was organized, with a list of different locations that we ironed out about a month before. She is easy to communicate with and has a really unique style that just made me adore her.
Karen is wonderful. She met with me during our initial consultation to make sure that she understood what I was looking for and she checked in with me periodically to see if there was anything that I needed help with along the way. I hired her after I had contracted all of my vendors so she was not involved with that part but I was so happy that I used her services because it became clear that I could not do all of the setup and timeline things on the Day Of and keep my sanity, especially not after the communication issues with The W. I dropped off all of my materials at her house and she transported them to The W and packed them up really well when it was over. She created a really detailed timeline and sent it to all the vendors to make sure that everyone was on the same page and was a total lifesaver.
I met Mike and Renee at a Bridal Fair in Newton around 2 months before my wedding. I thought I had everything in place but after seeing what they could offer, I decided that they would be perfect to do the uplighting for the venue. Mike brought in wireless uplights, LED cubes for sitting and small lanterns to line my aisle in the ceremony. He even came to my house to confirm that all of the colors were exactly what I was looking for. The prices are sooooo reasonable and Mike and Renee stayed the whole night of the wedding to make sure that changes could be made if needed. When I was frantically moving some vases around during set-up, Mike took them from me and offered to move anything else that I needed so I wouldn't have to worry about a thing.
Kelly is wonderful. She did hair for 6 people in 3 hours by herself and travelled to The W where we were getting ready. I did my hair trial with her about 7 months before the wedding and she offered to do a follow up one when the wedding got closer. She was open to suggestions and copied the pictures that I brought in exactly. My hair stayed in place the whole night and she was really easy to talk to, even my mother in law, who can be difficult, felt at ease in her chair. Love her and cannot say enough awesome things.
I love this venue! The hotel is gorgeous. The food was perfect. There were no guest minimums. Everything ran smoothly on the day of the wedding. We were given a free night's stay in the biggest suite they have which was gigantic and awesome. They accommodated my requests for draping and steamed my table overlays really well and the waitstaff/bartenders was so friendly and easy at the wedding. The communication during the planning process was kind of stressful though. I would send emails to the Event Coordinator and not get responses unless I requested Read Receipts. Our totals were not calculated correctly despite multiple attempts to get confirmation of them well in advance. The uplighting charges were outrageous but luckily they allowed us to bring in an outside vendor for those which worked out perfectly. It's hard to recommend the hotel because though the setting is so modern and fresh, the Event Coordinators seem scattered and I didn't expect same day responses but not even to get same week responses was really frustrating. The final blow was when I received a satisfaction survey and the date of the event was listed incorrectly. It make clients think that they don't matter and that attention to detail is not important.
