We had a lot of fun having our wedding in Red Wing! It's a beautiful, friendly town. We did find that the hotels booked up quickly, due to a few other events happening that weekend, so be aware and make sure you block your rooms early. It was the perfect 'mini-destination' weekend- because it was close enough to the Twin Cities for people who didn't want to stay to go back, and those who did stay were able to fairly inexpensively spend the weekend with us. It made all the difference to have a lot of events where we could spend time with people. We really felt like we spent quality time with all our guests.
The Ditch Lilies are a blue grass band and they play gigs all around SE MN and Twin Cities metro area. They were fantastic- all our guests enjoyed the music immensely. The rates were quite reasonable, and everything went exactly according to plan. The only missed detail was that we forgot to think about lighting for the band for their stage, which was outside under a tent.
Vendor delivered everything on time, just as specified. The selection wasn't quite as wide as we would have liked, but the service was top-notch, and the prices were quite good.
Our guests couldn't stop talking about the food. It was amazing...we chose a buffet line to cut down on serving costs, but the presentation was wonderful and beautiful. This firm, led by Philip Dorwart, a well-known Twin Cities chef, was recently mentioned in Metro Magazine. We dealt mainly with Philip, who was organized, friendly, and on-time. We felt confident going into the wedding that the food was going to be great. This is not a bargain caterer- but if you want wonderful, local, fresh food, at competitive rate compared to other high-end caterers, we highly recommend this company.
Wonderful! The vineyard was an exquisite backdrop for our ceremony and reception. The owners and staff were warm and friendly. I also have to mention Ripley's Rentals, they supplied the tents, tables, chairs, etc., etc.
Wonderful, lovely place! This is where we spent both nights, and our room was lovely and elegant...not stuffed with goofy doilies, as you tend to find in some B&Bs. We didn't sample the food because of our other plans, but have heard it's fantastic.
Fancy fun hotel- the fourth floor bar served as the unofficial 'after-party' location on both nights. The management is a little flaky, though....make sure you double- and triple-confirm your reservations and talk to everyone if you want to leave directions or other things for your guests. Ours were put away in the office when the shift changed.
This is a great course- if you golf, this is the place to go. They have 27 holes, with something for everyone.
The Nesbitts are wonderful, wonderful people! We had a great time! They organized a wagon ride and everyone had hot apple cider and got to sample apples. People purchased apples to take home because they were so fantastic.
The food at Norton's isn't only the best in the Red Wing area, it ranks up there in terms of all Twin Cities restaurants. We had our dinner in the screened in porch, and it was perfect. Everyone raved about their food!
