Beautiful church. We loved it here and because the church only seats about 240, our ceremony was very intimiate. The church is very open to marrying people from the community, even if you are not members of this specific church. You are required to go through marriage counseling with the pastor.
The Newberry Library is beautiful and the Karens (women responsible for the events) are so wonderful. We wanted a classy, elegant reception, that was not too fussy. This venue is beautiful as is and requires no decorations, other than some very simple centerpieces. There is a gorgeous lobby for a cocktail hour and a separate room for the dinner reception. While it is pricey just to rent the space ($5000), we found it was still more economical than to go with a downtown hotel. They have great recommendations on caterers, music, photographers. All of our vendors were from their list, so it made things so simple.
Lovely hotel and was walking distance to our church and reception site. It was pricey for our guests, but they all commented that the service was wonderful. We (bride and groom) stayed there our wedding night and rented a parlor suite. I (bride) stayed there also the night before our wedding and got ready there they next day. It was nice beacuse I had all of my services done at the suite and there was so much space for my family to hang out, as well. It was very relaxing.
We wanted to offer some less expensive options for our guests, so we chose a few hotels out by the airport. None of our guests chose this location, so I have no comments.
Beautiful hotel and they really worked with us price wise. We had some guests that were flying in and out of O'Hare stay here and it was a great value for the price.
