Overall, our wedding was a blast. Wedding Mapper was really cool. If you have your own personal website, I highly recommend using them, although I was able to paste the code right into my free KNOT website with no trouble. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about vendors in the Asheville area!
Fairly easy to set up. The store I went to wanted me to register for everything in one day which seemed ridiculous to me. I ended up coming back and adding/deleting some stuff. The registry people were very helpful. Their return policy is pretty good except I'd always heard you could bring stuff back for cash, which I know sounds tacky but I registered for 12 place settings and got 15, so it would have been nice to get the cash back since we were done with all our purchases. If you don't have a gift receipt or packing slip, you will just get a store credit on a receipt slip, no card. Although today I went to return something and they said they would give cash IF the people have the receipt and yell/scream. :)
I probably should have not registered here because not many people bought stuff off my registry. Of what was purchased, I'd received duplicates and even though at the time I did not have a receipt, they let me have store credit for the items. However, I got one gift that was definitely from Target but not on our registry but because it was over $35, they would not give me anything (Store credit, etc.), so I am stuck with it.
I didn't want to use David's Bridal but I felt I had no other choice with my far away bridesmaids. My name and dress information was not uploading into the system properly and so some girls, even though they had my email printed out with the dress style numbers and dress were unable at first to go try on dresses. Others got a lot of flack because I had picked out their dresses ahead of time and not ordered mine...from there of course. I did end up buying mine from there, but alot of my girls experienced issues with the store clerks. I had heard horror stories on alterations and had experienced first hand not having the shoes I needed dyed on time, so I took my dress to be altered elsewhere. Davids is good for the price of dresses, selection but dealing with the employees is rather horrific.
Mary was super sweet and easy to work with. I ended up having a few issues last minute with the dress and she easily accomodated me. She also did some major fix up repair on my Mother in Law's dress at the very last minute.
Definitely the best bridal registry. The girl I worked with spent a lot of time with me, answered all my questions, and was really easy to work with. She had also gotten married so she was familiar with all their policies etc. Their return policy is super no-hassle. I'm not positive that all the gifts I received were actually from Belk but if they carried the line, they took it back (the really bad awful gifts that you see on a "wedding display" that we'd never use). You only get store credit of course but its better than nothing. Another plus about Belk is that they give you full store credit for the item vs. Bed, Bath & Beyond. For example if someone bought something at BB&B and used a 20% coupon, you will only receive back what they paid. But at Belk, if they use a coupon, you get the full amount
We went to Sandals Ochos Rios. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was really the only disappointment. The grounds were beautiful and the staff, for the most part was nice. Service was actually quite good, considering we were in a Carribean country and tips were not included!
It sure was an easy set up with them but boy did they get the orders wrong. Luckily, they were easy to fix. All of my groomsmen, with the exception of my dad were supposed to pick up their tuxes in Asheville, but several stores sent the tuxes to the store they got measured in. This could have ended up being a disaster. Also, despite the measurings, several of the guys had to be tailored because of too long/too short sleeves, etc. They were able to accomodate us so I guess it wasn't total loss. But it seemed to me that each location was vieing for the business instead of concentrating on our order.
I would have given TBS 5 stars but I was disappointed with the design of both my rehearsal dinner and wedding cake. She did not follow my requests based on my emails and our in person conversation, which was a little disappointing. They did taste good though.
Everyone raved about the food. Caroline was easy to work with and she was able to provide a wonderful menu for a couple who was on a budget, but was still inviting a LOT of people!
I thought Beth did an excellent job on my wedding weekend. She was able to help coordinate for me, on a budget, and I felt like she had everything handled. A few of my bridesmaids felt like she seemed a little overwhelmed but I never noticed.
I ordered save the date postcards through them. My only complaint with them is that they had to be re-ordered 3 times because they were printing the back of the card upside down. Granted, they said it was the way I uploaded it but I could never see where it was obvious that the way i uploaded it was incorrect. The print preview and proof I ordered indicated that all was fine. Even after calling they still sent the next order wrong. But in the end I could have never have ordered them period if it had not been for how cheap they were and they gave me very little hassle on redoing the order. Now that I know how their upload program works I am sure I will use with no problems.
I can't really say anything bad about Ann's Bridal Bargains. I could not afford to have custom wedding invitations as much as I wanted them. I knew that I needed something generic but didn't want to spend $500 on it. I feel like I got a great deal (comparatively) on my invitations. They came within just a few days of placing my order and I never experienced any issues with them. They were definitely not overwhelmingly superior quality (the paper was not SUPER thick but still felt like wedding invite paper) but I got LOTS of compliments on them from people who would normally be ones to comment on such things.
Jon provided me with fantastic "artsy" shots that I wanted but not at the price that some photographers charge. His all inclusive price included engagement shots, bridal shots and ceremony/wedding day shots. He was super easy to work with and was never intrusive on the day of. I have received many compliments on his pictures.
Make sure you have a GOOD estimate of how many people you have coming because you cannot return anything, even if cases are unopened.
My aunt planned a delightful bridal luncheon here. We had a whole room to ourselves, which was plenty of room for my bridesmaids and a few others (a large group). Everyone got to choose from several options, all of which were delicious. Cute location to have a wedding day brunch located in Biltmore Village.
This hotel is downtown and a little pricey but I think its well worth the money, for the location. The staff was easy to deal with in setting up our block
What an underrated facility. I chose this place because it was downtown, within our budget and it still had that "country club" atmosphere we were going for. It is already beautifully decorated so I really didn't have to do much to the room. I got SO many compliments on the venue. I think people were shocked. The staff is amazing as I knew they would be and had everything handled. My only complaint is that it was a little hot, being that it was on the 3rd floor. There was A/C but people were still complaining about being hot. They might need to install some fans or get a bigger unit. Other than that I can't recommend them more.
They messed up people's reservations and messed up giving my gift bags out, but they did rectify and redeem themselves. They were the most affordable hotel in my block and in Asheville, which is why they got most of my business.
They made this big production of me signing up for room block online and then I'm not even sure it ever existed. They were advertising MUCH lower rates weeks before our wedding and REFUSED to change the block rate. Our friends stayed there using their Triple A Discount for almost $75 less than our block. The managers were very apathetic. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. For a little more money, you can stay right down the street at Homewood Suites, which is MUCH nicer and better managed. Totally disgusted with these people.
