Who ever said they wouldn't do their wedding over again must not have had as good a time as we did! The entire day, from start to finish, was fantastic! We choose 4pm for our ceremony time, so everyone had time to relax in the morning, get their hair & makeup done at a reasonable time (we were at the salon by 10am) and not feel rushed. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and we loved being able to dismiss by pew in the church. That way, we didn't have to spend as much time talking with each guest at the ceremony. The limo ride around Grand Rapids was great - the weather cooperated enough for us to stop and take a few outdoor pictures. October is always a gamble for weather and we lucked out! The reception was super fun, the decorations turned out great, and now we're just awaiting our pictures!
I would HIGHLY recommend not rushing off to the honeymoon the day after the wedding. We were able to relax at the hotel, have a family brunch Sunday morning and then spend a few days moving our things in together. When that work was done, we left for our honeymoon cruise.
All of the vendors that we used listed above I would highly recommend and would use again in a heartbeat. You can't go wrong with any of them!
The guys looked GREAT! We had one groomsman who was 6'7" with a 28" waist - no problem! We also ordered invitations from them and had no problems. We used the Northland Drive/East Beltline location - the girls were wonderful to work with, solved any problem that came up and were extremely friendly.
We used the Plainfield location - the stylists did a great job and everyone's makeup turned out GREAT! Just be careful - if you have a no-show, you will have to pay for their service if you did not cancel 24 hrs prior. Also, when people were not on time, they came to ask the bride where they were - that's not the bride's responsibility on her wedding day!
We had Sal as our DJ, he was fantastic!!! Did what we needed him to do, guests had a great time, we had to end the party early! Would highly recommend him!
This vendor was required with our venue, but they were GREAT! Food was excellent, as was their bar service. VERY reasonable pricing, very easy and friendly to work with.
We had two lessons prior to our reception - very professional, very fun! We're going to sign up for more lessons in the future! We used the Plainfield location.
Abby was fantastic to work with! She was very professional, very open to ideas and had great ideas of her own! She was everywhere at the wedding without being seen. She does excellent work and was willing to do a boudoir session for me prior to the wedding as a wedding gift to my husband.
Pricing was a bit high for 2 hours ($325) and they are not willing to rent for an hour. Phone calls were a bit odd, the drivers have the phone during the day, so sometimes you would catch them at the grocery store. Otherwise, the limo was new and clean, on time, and the driver was VERY nice. He drove us around GR to any location we wanted, even to Martha's Vineyard!
We really enjoyed our 7-day western Caribbean cruise! It was our first cruise and we would DEFINITELY do it again! The only downside: we were on the same cruise as the Hogs on the High Seas (Harley Davidson bikers) - us and 1800 of them! The cruise was catered more to them than the rest of the guests. I would recommend finding out if this is a "regular" cruise or not first before booking!
We really enjoyed having our wedding ceremony at Wesley Park. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff took over for us, letting us know where to go and when. The ceremony was perfect - the music was great, the unity candles were lit and before we knew it, we were married! Pastor Will was great - we started taking our marriage counseling classes at the end of July and met once a month. He really got to know us and made the ceremony more personal that way. The church was easy to find for guests, parking was ample and our fee for use of the church and the pastor was VERY reasonable compared to most places in Grand Rapids as non-members. I would recommend Wesley Park to anyone who doesn't have a home base church in Grand Rapids.
This was truly the perfect reception location for us. It was central, easily accessible and the setup was perfect! We had the entire building for ourselves and our guests (3 floors total). A parking ramp was across the street for easy, safe parking for a $6 fee. Guests came in the lobby and walked up a small set of stairs to the main level where the bar and guest book table was set up. We also used 4 bistro tables. The cake, DJ, dance floor and dinner tables were in the next room. We sat 120 very comfortably. Lighting was adjusted by staff and the music was not too loud. An event coordinator for the venue was available the entire night and made rounds to make sure everything was taken care of. Staff was very friendly, helpful and professional to work with. I'd recommend this location to ANYONE!
We had a block of rooms reserved at an inexpensive rate ($93 for a Saturday night, right downtown Grand Rapids). Staff was friendly and helpful to our guests, rooms were clean and non-smoking.
