We loved our wedding here. The weather had been bad all week, but at noon on the Saturday we were married, the sun was shining bright with just a few puffy clouds. You could see Catalina it was so clear. The people at Wayfarers were very helpful. Note that you only have 2 hours (1 hour before the wedding and about 30 minutes after) for pictures on the grounds. I was late before the wedding (arrived just in time to put on my dress and walk down the aisle at noon), so we only have pictures of my husband out on the grounds beforehand, and then the 2 of us together afterward. Make sure you are on time and that all the people traveling with you are on time and ready to really get the most use out of the grounds for pictures.
The minister interviewed us about a week before the wedding. I was worried it would be a very impersonal ceremony, but he worked in a story of how I started dating my husband and it was great. They will also accomodate special readings and the like if you want.
We began working with Teryl and Jackie about 10 months before our wedding. We only had 45 guests. We were in the Sunrise Sunset room which is horseshoe (or U) shaped. On one leg of the "U" was the DJ, dance floor and cocktail tables. We started with cocktails and hors d'oevres in this area, along with our guest book and escort cards. The bottom of the "U" has a long, beautiful bar. Mark, our bartender, was wonderful. The other leg of the "U" is where our luncheon tables were. The windows in this area overlook the marina and on our wedding day it was a beautiful view. We were able to choose 3 different entrees for our guests to choose from (fish, beef or chicken) and a children's entree (chicken fingers with french fries). As usual at Cheesecake Factory, the portions were very generous. I did bring in a wedding cake from an outside vendor, but to avoid a cake cutting fee, we also served everyone petite cheesecake squares for dessert before the cake!! (If you buy half your dessert from the Cheesecake Factory, you don't pay the cake cutting fee. In our case, the cake cutting fee would have been the same as just buying the cheesecake, and everyone loved having cheesecake because of where we were. I bought take home boxes for the wedding cake in case people didn't want to eat both right then.). The folks at the Cheesecake Factory set up everything as I wanted, putting out my favors, table names, escort cards, etc. for me. I can't say enough good things about how they took care of us. Teryl and Jackie made sure every detail was just right. They even worked with us on the time (Most afternoon venues only let you have from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Our reception couldn't start until 1:00 PM because our wedding was at noon. They allowed us to have the room until 5:00 PM - and this was Valentine's Day.) The prices are also very reasonable. When compared to other venues, this was one of the less expensive sites we looked at, but I don't think we missed anything. Food, view and service were all exceptional.
