Our 'hallowedding' was great! Getting married in Saint Louis was really fun, and we were able to have the wedding of our dreams on our own budget. October is a wonderful time of year in Saint Louis, not too warm but not freezing and the foliage is gorgeous. Oh, and Wedding Mapper was a great resource to share with our guests. Especially if you have a lot of out of town attendees, like we did. We'd highly recommend using it!
Five stars really do not do these guys justice. They were fantastic right from the get go. They were easy to talk with and had no problem working with us from a distance (we're in missouri but live about 4 hours from St. Louis). We communicated a lot through email, but they were flexible in meeting us when we were already in town. Their prices are already super reasonable, and you get much more than what you pay for...but to add to the awesome, they offer a military discount. Chris was our DJ for the evening and he made sure he knew what music we liked and what we didn't. We'd had several guests send in requests ahead of time and he made sure those were available for us. The music was really important to us as a couple and we wanted to make sure the selections reflected that. Chris listened to us and definitely 'got it'. Not that he had it easy, we had a very eclectic guest list. But not one person had any complaints. My mother summed it up best, "There was not one song where I thought oh no." Chris also worked seamlessly with our photographer and venue to make sure things happened on time, dances were announced, and all went well. A DJ can make or break an event, and Chris certainly made ours.
We held both ceremony and reception at SqWires. Even before our event we knew we had made the right choice and cannot have imagined going anywhere else. Originally we had planned to get married in March, but due to circumstances beyond our control, were forced to move the date. We decided to move it up and recontacted our short list. SqWires was one of the few locations willing to work with our now shortened schedule and slashed budget. You would never have known had you been there! It was absolutely amazing. Nobody who knew our budget believed us. All of our guests were in awe of the venue and event. They have a lot of the stuff that usually adds up already on hand (like decor, linens, vases, displays, easels, etc.) and do not charge mark up fees for you to use it. The space is already so beautifully decorated and has such an inviting, unique vibe that you don't need much to make it really pop. Our ceremony was in the front room and then we had our reception in the annex. At first I was nervous that our 60 person guestlist would be overwhelmed in such a big room but Bethany arranged tables and utilized smaller tables to fill the space. It was perfect. The quirky mix of tables and seating really complimented our cocktailish vibe. Speaking of, Bethany was a joy to work with. We lived a few hours away but I never felt anything but relaxed while working with SqWires. We did most of the planning via email and she was always good at getting back to us about things and had no problem answering my million questions. The food was beyond compare. We had eaten there a few times but after we had our tasting, we were blown away. Everyone is still raving about it. The night of, during set up, the head table collapsed and several things were broken. By the time we arrived the table was replaced, our decor reset, and new vases had been brought out to replace them. Bethany and her manager Karen even offered to replace the toasting glasses for us. I mention this not to nag that it happened (nobody's fault & that was the "worst thing") but to highlight how customer focused the staff at SqWires is. They really went above and beyond for us. We'd also forgotten silver sharpies for our record guest book, but Karen managed to locate some just in time. There are not enough characters available to truly explain how awesome SqWires was. They helped us pull off the perfect evening.
Drury was an extremely affordable, centrally located option and the staff were very friendly. They made sure our welcome bags were delivery free of charge and helped all the out of town guests locate things.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable- the two room suites were great for families and made a perfect bridal suite as well. Having a restaurant attached, as well as several free snack options and free breakfast was also a nice perk. Overall I think it was a great location to host our rooms
We had an after party at Flamingo Bowl and it was amazing. They were so accommodating and we had such a lovely time. It was the perfect balance- allowing us to continue the party without the longer reception costs.
