We had a blast at our wedding! Getting married in Pismo Beach was really fun, and a good way for people to take the weekend and enjoy themselves. October is a great time of the year in Pismo Beach, the weather was perfect, we were even able to have a HUGE bonfire at nearby Avila Beach. And Wedding Mapper was a great resource to share with our guests. We'd highly recommend using it!
We had a wonderful experience with Christine. We were only a month out and still didn't have a cake, but Christine was willing to work with us on such short notice. She was so friendly over the phone and I could tell she cared about our cake experience. All the guests raved about the cake and I just wish I had a chance to try all the different flavors! I highly recommend Christine.
Scott Muir really knows how to work a wedding. He was very understanding during the rehearsal, when the bride was late. He and his wife were very organized and helped with creating our timeline for a smooth ceremony/reception. He can go with the flow; in our case, we were late to the reception, but Scott was able to keep our guests well-entertained. Great DJ!
Fat Cats Cafe exceeded our expectations for our rehearsal dinner. The menu consisted of a wide range of food options and most, if not all, of our 50 rehearsal dinner guests found something to satisfy their tastes. Portions were large and the staff were able to accommodate our group on the patio, which was kept warm with heater lamps. Speed of service varied, depending on the table, but most people finished eating around the same time. They also gave us two matching Fat Cats Cafe shirts at the end of the dinner. Price was extremely affordable, including drinks, which is a major plus.
If you want an beautiful wedding ceremony with a backdrop of the Pacific (mine included whales spouting in the distance and hummingbirds flitting in and out of the bushes), this is the place for you. We worked with Margarita, who was very accomodating, but to warn you--she is not a wedding planner; however, she was very open to suggestions and worked with us however she could. If I had to re-do my ceremony, I'd pick this venue again without hesitation.
Overall, a very nice place to have a 100-person reception. I worked with Mary Beth to coordinate planning the logistics of setting up-- again, she is NOT a wedding planner, but very helpful for the diy-bride. The staff was extremely accomodating and FAST! We had ample time to set up and were free to make changes to the layout (barring putting holes in the walls). We opted for the plated service--the food was delicious-- and I'm sure the buffet options are equally as yummy. This venue is highly recommended, especially for someone looking for a more affordable reception option.
