Joe and Megan's Wedding

Big

Megan and I had been dating for 2+ years before we got engaged. We met in Raleigh, North Carolina after both of us had moved south for new jobs. These days, it is not so Taboo anymore to say that we met on Match.com. I whisked Megan away to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland on a surprise 4day weekend trip before Christmas 2008, where I proposed in the Blue Lagoon - that magical Geothermal Hot Spring. It was 95 degrees in the water, and it was 20 degrees and snowing outside. It was a moment to remember.

9 Months later, our wedding was just as magical of an event. After months of planning, and guests traveling in from all over the country - the day had finally arrived. We chose CT, because Megan's family was in Central NJ, and mine was just north of Boston - so it was a good mid point to avoid most people having to jump on a plane. For days we had been tracking the weather, and were praying for the clouds to move faster, but in typical New England Fashion, the skies opened up and caused our wedding ceremony to move into plan B. St. Clement's Castle is a gorgeous venue, and they were just as accommodating in the rain. We were married under the front portico, with all our guests squeezed in around us. They literally had to part ways to allow us to walk down the aisle. It was sort of cool to be that close to everyone. We got a standing ovation.

After the Ceremony, the reception started a little late due to the delays of the rain - but when we finally got moving, it was a blast. The food was excellent. Our guests raved about the location and how much room there was to wander around. The Cocktail hour was held in the courtyard, where there were old stables, remodeled into dining areas. There bar itself was easily over 100 years old, and was in prime condition. The service was excellent the whole night. You know how they say your reception goes by faster than you would like? Well they weren't kidding! By the time i got on stage with the band to end the night with a few hits from Journey and Bon Jovi, the night was basically over. We got some great pictures, and have memories to last a lifetime.

After our wedding, we escaped to Europe for a 2 week honeymoon in Paris, then through Northern Italy. From Venice, to the wine filled mountains of Tuscany, into Florence, and down to Rome - we didn't meet a bottle of wine or a meal we didn't absolutely love. They say in Italy, you pay for the atmosphere, because no matter where you go to eat; be it a hole in the wall, or a fancy ristorante; the food is out of this world. Venice was our favorite. It's like Manhattan, except a 1000 year old island, with no roads. It was such a great experience.

We now reside in Raleigh, NC. One day we hope to move back north, and start a family, but for now - we are enjoying our time together as a newly married couple!

Bands/Live Entertainment

The LaBlanc Brothers Band rocked the house during our wedding reception. These guys are not your typical wedding band. They are actual studio musicians, so their musical talent is so professional, that they sound just like the album! They let me get on stage with them to Jam at the end of the reception - which brought the house down. The LaBlanc Brothers Band are very professional, they sound great, and they are reasonably priced. I would recommend them anyday.

Ceremony & Reception

The Staff at St. Clement's were very accommodating. Judy helped us plan the whole event, and also had the backup plan ready to go. It rained on our wedding day, and we had planned the whole ceremony outside. We tried to make it work, but when the skies finally opened up - the castle staff moved quickly to make everything ok. During the reception, Paul (our Matre'D) was there for us at every turn. During the night, we always knew where we needed to be, and never had an empty glass. The Castle is gorgeous, and our guests had a blast.

Limos/Shuttles

The service was excellent. We had a limo bus and a full size 55 passenger motor coach to shuttle guests to and from the wedding. The experience was very high quality, however the price was a bit on the expensive side, especially when you factor in the only use we got was to and from the wedding with a 5 hour gap of nothing in the middle. Overall, The Limo Bus was Excellent, but I might recommend a yellow school bus if you are looking to save money to shuttle intoxicated family members :-)

For one man, Chris sure moves fast! Even during the Rain, Chris was able to make the best of what we had for lighting. I haven't seen all the pictures yet, but what is best about Chris - is that we get the rights to the pictures on a DVD full of proofs. In this digital age we live in - this is exactly what I wanted. Chris was very professional, and reasonably priced. I would recommend him highly.

Reception Sites

The Castle was gorgeous. This place is a beautiful location for your wedding and reception. Unfortunately, it rained on our wedding day - and the gorgeous ceremony outside was moved under the front entrance. We improvised, and still had quite the memorable night. The reception was so much fun, that it made up for the rain outside.

The staff at the Hilton were so helpful during our stay! Desiree was the expert mind behind all the planning for our guests. She helped us plan a fantastic Rehearsal Dinner, Post Wedding Breakfast, and secured enough rooms for all our guests. Our wedding party was quite the late night crowd, and on 2 consecutive nights after 11pm, the staff at the Hilton opened up the bar for those who wanted to keep the night going. They could have easily said no, but they invited us right in! We got a great rate of $120/night for all our guests (about 90 rooms.) Highly Recommended
