Our wedding was an absolute nightmare.
The "wedding planners" at Lomas Travel completely ruined our wedding day. We had been working with them and Destination Wedding Travel in the U.S. for over a year on planning our wedding. Everyone was great to work with up until we physically got to Mexico and it was time to deliver. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the execution of our destination wedding. That is the entire reason why we worked with Lomas and Destination Weddings for so long. We were both beside ourselves with disbelief as to how badly things turned out and even more so how no one felt they needed to be held accountable for it.
In short, this was absolutely not the experience we were promised and were robbed of enjoying what we were lead to believe was going to be a fantastic time in paradise with 5 star service and fantastic planners. It was anything but that. We tried to make the best of the situation, but were deeply heartbroken. I spent my wedding night crying about how badly things went. After the wedding day, we discovered that decorations we did not authorize to be used were taken from our room and damaged and some of our favors were not returned to us. Absolutely, no one was held responsible for this. We called our contact at Lomas Travel and she did not care and the representative at Lomas Travel was apologetic, but nothing was done.
We honestly felt as if we literally wasted our money and were just robbed of a beautiful and happy wedding. Our family and friends felt the same way because they were so sad for us and could not believe what happened and how much we were harassed just to end up with a wedding day that wasn't what we asked for.
We literally spent months and months discussing our wedding requests and it was not executed on our wedding day.
I would not recommend working with Lomas Travel or, especiallyDestination Wedding Travel since they referred us to Lomas Travel and were the people we trusted the most. If you are planning a wedding in Mexico bring your own planner from the U.S. or, just work directly with the resort. It may be more expensive to bring your own planner, but you will be very happy for it in the end. You can meet with him/her and they will be more accountable for anything that goes wrong and will be more motivated to deliver what you requested because they know you.
Our families and us were appauled at the lack of customer service or, anyone taking ownership for ruining what was supposed to be a very special day for us and we paid significantly for. After it was all done the people at Destination Weddings and Lomas Travel had our money already, the wedding day was over and literally no one cared about what happened. They were working on other weddings and getting more money from other couples so they did not care. This is definitely what a couple would expect from people who they have spoken with for over a year and trusted.
Our parents were so upset about how everything turned out that they are throwing us another wedding and reception back in the U.S. in 2012.
Victor Hererra and Adrian Herrera were such a delight to work with. They were such professionals, kind, welcoming and just extremely easy to work with. We felt so comfortable working with them and are even having them cover our stateside reception in 2012. We would highly reccomend these photographers to all future couples. They are an amazing family run business and you will be very pleased with the quality and creativity of your photos and most of all working with them.
We highly recommend this vendor. They were amazing, affordable and the quality of their products are fantastic.
They also offer a wide selection of products.
The planner assigned to our wedding from Lomas Travel absolutely ruined our wedding weekend. First, we had been working with a "planner" for over a year. However, when we arrived in Mexico someone else was assigned to our wedding only 2 days before our wedding day.
She and her team monopolized our entire weekend with nonstop questions and meetings that we thought had been answered months before our wedding day and then again during our initial meeting of 4 hours on the first day we arrived in Mexico at the resort, the planners were not able to execute any of the events on our wedding day.
They were always late in responding to our inquiries during our preparations before the wedding and were equally disorganized once we got to Mexico.
We were referred to Lomas Travel by our "wedding coordinator" at Destination Wedding Travel in the U.S. We absolutely regret not hiring a real planner in the U.S. to oversee our destination wedding.
We absolutely do not reccommend using this vendor. We would not even give them 1 star based on the level of service we received and the outcome of our destination wedding. Lomas Travel are absolutely NOT wedding planners, they are a travel and tour agency capitalizing on the destination wedding market in Mexico.
We began working with Destination Weddings almost 2 years before our wedding. Our "coordinator" was pleasant to work with for during our preparation of the wedding. However, after things appeared to be done and moneys were paid in full, she disappeared. The entire time we worked together, we were assured that she would be available to us and our guests during our trip to Mexico. Many, many things went wrong while we were in Mexico and she was not available the entire time. We ended up spending 98% of our time in the hotel room on our laptops and Blackberries trying to contact people in Mexico and the U.S. to troubleshoot the problems that arose. This resulted in us not being able to enjoy the resort we paid handsomely to stay at for a mere 5 nights or, our guests who we convinced to come to Mexico for our destination wedding.
Destination Weddings is NOT, i repeat NOT a wedding planning agency. They are a travel agency. They recommended us to Lomas Travel, who were absolutely not capable of executing our wedding. We were harassed all weekend and did not receive anything we requested for our wedding after over a year of planning.
When our "coordinator" from Destination Weddings finally resurfaced. We found out she was on vacation, which we were not informed she would be before we left the U.S., and could not do anything. Destination Weddings is a travel agency also capitalizing on the entire Destination Weddings idea.
I absolutely would not recommend working with these vendors. Bring your own planner from the U.S. that is invested in your wedding and not part of some wedding money making machine. You will be so much happier for it in the end and feel your money was well spent.
We were harrased all day long by the wedding team. It was so bad that I was not able to get prepared for the Ceremony and ended up being late. I continued to ask the wedding planner from Lomas Travel, Irais, and her team to please give me some time to prepare so I can enjoy the day with the ladies. They disregarded my request. My husband, mother, mother-in-law and sister made the same request, but they disregarded them too.
At one point we were even told that there would be no wedding because the minister has other things to do. Those were the exact words that were relayed to us.
The ceremony setup was ok. It was not what we asked for, but it wasn't horrible. Our wedding ceremony was truly saved by the Minister, Carmen, who was amazing and our guests.
My makeup, hair, nails and just overall look was not what I wanted for my wedding day, because I could not prepare and was rushed to get ready after an entire day of being harassed. I was not able to take any photos getting ready with our photographer and was so frazzled by the planner from Lomas Travel and her team by the time I reached the Ceremony.
It was definitely not what we were lead to believe would be the experience we would have during our planning with Destination Weddings in the U.S. and Lomas Travel, who they referred us to in Mexico.
I would not recommend working with these vendors. Bring your own planner from the U.S. that is invested in your wedding and not part of some wedding money making machine. You will be so much happier for it in the end and feel your money was well spent.
In a nutshell, our reception was an absolute nightmare and by far was by far the worst event of the wedding day.
Nothing was setup as we requested despite the fact that we had multiple meetings with the wedding coordinator from Lomas Travel over a course of 2 days before the wedding day. I even sent diagrams of the reception floor plan, but nothing was coordinated the way we requested. Some dishes were not served at our reception - i.e Lobster tails (very expensive). Our candle lighting ceremony that we wanted to do with our parents was not able to happen since the wedding planner and her team lit the candle even though we asked them not to and merely placed it on the guest table. Please note, we paid extra money to have the candle and hurricane for the candle lighting ceremony. Then, the planner approached us after we were just announced, entered the reception space and sat at our sweetheart table for money for the menus she printed. We were devastated. Everyone was looking at us while she was showing us the receipt and asking us for the money. We had many opportunities to discuss this matter throughout the day, but she did not bring it up until we were at the reception. My sister ended up having to leave the reception, go back to her room and get the money because we did not have the cash on our person.
We tried to make the best of the reception, but it was heartbreaking to know we had invested so much time into planning our wedding just for it to turn out like this.
