We had gotten married on the only week in October that did not rain in Arlington, Texas. The clouds had separated to enable the sun to shine, and that was to set the tone for our wedding day. We had used Wedding Mapper as the medium to help my bride and I to disseminate information to our guests and family of where various facilities were to be used on our wedding day, as well as to show out-of-town people of the hotel with blocked reservations, things nearby to see (like the recently opened Cowboy's Stadium), and restaurants we think they would like to eat at (nothing against TGIF, but taste the local flavors). The map enabled us to give names, phone numbers, and addresses of the local vendors. Our guests were then able to make their necessary arrangements and know where things we recommended were located at. Wedding Mapper was a good call by my bride, and we are glad to have used them to help us.
This was the company who had provided the music at our reception party. We were very happy with the service that was provided. The DJ did a fantastic job and worked with Bella Stanza to set-up and such before the guests and such arrived. We traded phone calls and e-mails with the folks to get the ambience set for the reception and what music is to be played. The only negative is that the list of songs is so HUGE that it was almost like a unwanted job to come up with a song list -- it is surprising how my wife and I picked out too many songs for a four-hour long reception. In addition to the DJ services, we also used Complete Music to be the videographer of our wedding. The video guys were unobtrusive before and during the wedding ceremony, and the deliverable a few weeks later had shown a professional and quality touch to not only taking the video but also putting it together on the cd.
We had used Bella Stanza as the location for the after-wedding reception hall. A very good choice. I believe we had about 200 guests overall and there may have been a little more space for additional folks, but it may have gotten a little more cramped had we done so. We had also used the "in-house" catering service, so there was space taken up for the food lines; as well as additional space taken for the DJ, the dance floor, and the tables for the cakes and gifts. It was about the right sized facility for the amount of people who celebrated with us. Had we invited more people, I want to say that the option would have been to add more people to each of the round dinner tables -- less personal space for people to sit around and talk to people.
We met with the folks at Bella Stanza on a number of occasions to plan for the reception. We went to reserve about six months or so in advance and their calendar seemed to have being filling up, but we were able to get the hall for the weekend we really wanted. We had visited them a number of times, including the tasting by the "in-house" caterer and the final meeting the week before our big ceremony celebration. The staff was courteous and helpful.
The hall has a number of options to decorate and spruce up the celebration by upgrading to things like bows on the backs of chairs and such. We went with the basic package and truth be told, it was beautiful and warm. Nonetheless, there are options if a person were to choose to spruce up their minimum requirements of what the hall should look like.
We had used the in-house caterer to provide the dinner to our guests. We had done a tasting event a few months before the big day, and there were a fair number of samples to test. Not everything on the menus were on the testing plates, but we got enough food to know what we wanted to eat. We also selected to have the mashed potatoes to be served in a margarita type glass, and this was a big hit for our guests as they sprinkled on the extras like cheese, bacon, and such on to the taters.
Another perk to using Bella Stanza is its location as it is easy to find and enable folks to get back on to the major streets and the adjacent interstate to go back to either their homes or the hotel rooms.
My wife and I really enjoyed the use of Bella Stanza. It was clean and it enabled us, our friends, and our family to celebrate this big day with us in a very joyous manner.
The church was absolutely fantastic for the wedding. We were looking for a traditional Baptist church with the center aisle, but this church was so much more with it being airy, filled with light, and also being warm. The architecture of the sanctuary with the high ceiling, the stain-glass window in the front, and the illumination levels just gave a very warm and inviting space. The bride and her group had a changing room off of the vestibule between the church's front door and the doors to the sanctuary's center of the aisle. The size of this room seemed to be adequate to enable changes and let the ladies to visit and get ready for the ceremony. The groom and his party used the choir room as their changing room. It was very spacious, as Baptist choir rooms can be large, to enable the guys to change into their suits.
The church was very clean and there were no maintenance issues that distracted from the ceremony. The facility was in very, very good shape and we have absolutely no complaints about the church.
We hired a string quartet to play music before and during the ceremony. The quartet sounded wonderful in the sanctuary as it filled the space. No sound system and the music just filled the space without being overwhelming.
My bride and I are not members of Mayfield Road Baptist Church. It is a very affordable to rent, and we had used a good friend who is a Baptist minister to officiate our ceremony. We were able to reserve the church well in advance and we really liked the church. Two thumbs up for Mayfield Road Baptist Church.
