Our wedding was absolutely amazing. We live in San Francisco, so planning a wedding here was easy (relatively). :)
We had an outdoor ceremony, and indoor reception. Weather can be tricky in San Francisco, yet end of August through October are usually great months weather-wise. We had gorgeous weather Labor Day weekend (which we've noticed is a beautiful time of the year in San Francisco).
Fabulous caterer. Our guests are still raving about the food we chose to serve. The service was great. Our coordinator, Anna, was amazing to work with! They were so accommodating, willing to work with us, not pushing us towards expensive options (or recommending cheaper ones - silverware, china, etc.). I could say enough about how wonderful the experience was to work with them.
Exactly what we wanted - fun, lively, great performers, great musicians. We didn't want the music to end. It was the true party we wanted. Just make sure you speak with your coordinator in advance to ensure you get what you want - timing, types of songs you want or don't want played, etc.
Worked with Shannon for our ceremony only. She was great. She went above-and-beyond to make sure our day was great. Had awesome ideas. Coordinated with our vendors. Made sure the day ran smoothly.
We used them to transport our guests from the host hotels to the ceremony site, to the reception, and back to the hotels. We used motorized trolleys during the day, and a luxury bus in the evening. They were perfect. On time. Professional. Great to work with.
can't rate since we don't have our video yet. However, our day-of videographer was great. We met prior to the wedding and worked out logistics together.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL location for our ceremony. The weather was perfect (Labor Day weekend). Although public, there were no major distractions.
With all of the gorgeous flowers, the florist needs were VERY minimal, which was nice for the budget!
We loved having our Reception here. It's a slightly pricey venue (we had to pay extra for an educational room to keep the kids and babysitter in - and that's really why I'm not giving it 5 stars ... why they couldn't budge on this one room after all the money we were spending, I don't know!), yet it's gorgeous and definitely made the impact on our guests that we hoped for. We used the Loggia and Samsung Hall areas. Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
For a wedding host hotel, I likely wouldn't recommend the Mark Hopkins. No coffee shops walking distance, no true useful amenities for out-of-town guests. It is gorgeous, and offers spectacular views, yet not too convenient for other things. Great distance to Chinatown, which our guests loved.
The other very frustrating component is that there were a few mix-ups at check-in relative to the rate guaranteed. The hotel tried to charge my guests $80 more per night for a portion of their stay. Not something I wanted to deal with before my wedding day, yet we did get it all settled. Just annoying we even had to bother with this. Not a huge fan of the Sales individual we worked with. A bit more argumentative than helpful.
Great location for Chinatown and Union Square. The staff were all VERY accommodating, always wanting to help ... from the people I dealt with to the ones my guests encountered. Their process for a wedding block is very comprehensive. Makes you feel truly taken care of.
