Downtown Columbus is a great location to get married in Ohio. Although more expensive than other areas of the state, we were so close to every venue. The hotel, ceremony, reception, and rehearsal dinner were all within 3 miles or less of each other. Our guests had several entertainment options and we had easy access to highways for travel. The lights around the city were also a wonderful touch as it was Christmas time.
Curtis was amazing! We used a different photographer for our (first) engagement photos that were just terrible, so seeing the amazing work Curtis can do was so exciting! He was with us over 12 hours on our wedding day. It meant the world to me he photographed every moment because I am a photo lover. I'm so pleased with his time commitment.
The cake was DELICIOUS. So so good. I did order a little too much though. I ordered one piece per person and we had the two top tiers left over the next day. I would recommend ordering slightly less than your guest count.
We chose to get married at the Statehouse because of where we worked when we met. We worked for members of the Ohio House across the hall from each other in the Riffe building across the street from the Statehouse. Our bosses worked in the Statehouse so it essentially is where our love started to grow to each other.
On top of the significance to our relationship, it is a gorgeous venue. You can't go wrong with this place.
I loved the location AND the effective cost of the location. I also LOVED how large the dance floor was. The only reason I didn't give the venue a 5 was because I heard from several guests the area outside the banquet hall for the cocktail hour was sub-par--crowded without enough seats.
This hotel was literally a thirty second drive from our reception. It's in the heart of the Short North/Arena District/Downtown merge. It's gorgeous on the inside and out. The only reason I didn't give a 5 was because I booked the room with the romance package which was supposed to have strawberries and champagne but we got some mousse instead of strawberries and the timing wasn't as I had asked for. The mousse was delicious though.
