I read about the same 2 makeup artists in Columbus everywhere, and was disappointed when both of them were booked for my date....but I am SOOO glad they were, because Kelli was honestly one of my favorite vendors of the day! Even my bridesmaids were saying, "she was so fun!" I don't wear a ton of makeup, but she made me look like my natural self only hotter! She did all my bridesmaid and mothers, they all loved theirs as well, but honestly, her personality and spunk is what makes her the best - no one wants someone just sitting in silence staring at your face, and Kelli puts you at ease right away.
Another of my favorite vendors - Creative was awesome in terms of offering a bit more than the other caterers I looked at, and the food was AMAZING - we overestimated our headcount, but still ran out of some food because people kept going back for seconds! Terri Engel was my event planner I worked with - and I can honesty say, she was the single most help to me out of everyone in helping me plan my perfect day! Right from the start she gave me great ideas for decorations, food that fit our theme, and even ended up doing our flowers (some centerpieces and bouquets/bouts) because she was cheaper than everyone was else, and they looked awesome! Terri was the person who I went over EVERY single detail with, and she made sure everything went off without a hitch! I honestly loved her, I would hang out with her even outside of wedding season, she was that fun!
I worked with Maggie Butler here, to her credit, she had to deal with all the previous issues with us being kicked out of the Hyatt Regency and relocated here, so I was pretty angry the whole time I dealt with her, but she made every effort to work with me and try to hook us up despite the circumstances. I did have a few guests stay here and they liked the rooms, I wish I had contacted them from the start as opposed to the Hyatt Regency!
North Bank is an amazing venue - it's very DIY, so you can do anything with it. It's sort of weird to book via the lotto process, but we were able to get it the very first trip we went, 1 year exactly before our date. The parks staff was great setting everything up, and all our guests commented on how awesome it was with the view of the skyline and the fountains!
All I can say is that Ellen Irish is AMAZING!!! I had booked a block at the Hyatt Regency downtown, and they called me a few months prior to our date and kicked us out due to a conference....I didn't look at the DoubleTree initially as I had heard the rooms were older, but in desperation, called Ellen. I ended up moving pretty much our entire wedding there, got a HUGE bridal suite comped because of that, and the guests LOVED the rooms - SO big, it was awesome for people coming out of town or who wanted to double up and share a room. The hotel bar allowed us to party after our reception, and the front desk did a great job trying to accommodate our guests for early check ins, even when they were sold out the night before. I highly recommend this hotel for weddings, as the suite is almost as big as my house, and was such a great place for everyone to hang out while we got ready and had an amazing view....I ordered a great omelet from room service and the morning of the wedding, so glad I did as I barely ate the rest of the day!
We rented the private room in the basement, and compared to other locations we looked at, the price was right and we had a ton of privacy with our own bartender and bathrooms! It's not quite as fancy as say, a Due Amici, but we were a beer drinking crowd anyway, so it fit. Food was good, sort of typical buffet, I loved the Pork with cherries, and the hummus was a great appetizer.
