Our wedding was better than we ever could have expected! Getting married in Kansas City was really fun. It was a central location for all of our family and friends, it was our hometown that we love, and we were able to find everything we needed in the area we wanted. The weather in October turned out to be perfect and we even got an 80+ degree day!
The church is beautiful and the priest and pastoral administrator are very helpful and friendly. You are also allowed to bring in your own minister, and Father Glenn encourages blending in other religious traditions if you want. There is a bride's room for the girls to get ready. If you're wanted a small, laid back reception, you could also use the church basement or the school cafeteria.
Drexel is a beautiful, unique, building with lots of character. It doesn't require the need for many decorations. We were able to fit 16 tables of 8 on the main floor and 10 tables of 8 on the mezzanine. There is a bar on both floors. We were able to decorate the day before. This venue is great if you want to do your own thing--bring in your own vendors, and have some freedom.
The hotel was very nice and on the wedding weekend everything worked out fine. Everyone had a room and received their welcome bags, etc. However, during the planning, we had several difficulties and issues including changes in our agreed upon room rate, promos offering rooms outside of our block for less than our agreed upon room rates, no return calls, loss of reservations, etc. It was frustrating and an added stress that was unnecessary.
