Our wedding was great! It was unseasonably hot for May (had been over 100 degrees all week), but it cooled off the evening of our wedding. The garden and courtyard of the historic Vallejo home was a beautiful setting for the ceremony and reception. Everyone kept talking about how amazing it was. The sunset was beautiful.
One important piece of information is that I had heard from the coordinator of the Sonoma State Parks that they would not be allowing receptions anymore, just ceremonies. Hopefully they will change this policy back, because it is a beautiful location to have both.
We ordered our wedding cake through Scandia Bakery in Sonoma. The cake was beautiful and delicious. The owner was great to work with.
Wild Thyme Events did our catering and arranged for our rentals. Joanne was really great to work with, and answered all of my many questions. The food was wonderful, the staff was professional and attentive, and there were no problems with the rentals. The only issue we had was that they were a little late to set up and our wedding coordinator ended up having to set up the tables by herself. Everything ended up working out though, and I definitely recommend them.
Susan at Sonoma Flowers is great. Our flowers were amazing. The bouquets were exactly what I wanted and the centerpieces were beautiful. I highly recommend her.
Cindi is amazing. She was so calm and unobtrusive, exactly what we were looking for. The photographs turned out beautifully.
For an interesting, historic, and affordable place to have an event, I definitely recommend General Vallejo's Home. I have heard that they are going to no longer allow receptions there, but will still do ceremonies. The garden was beautiful in May, and it's just a very unique place for a wedding. It is labor intensive, since you have to bring in all of the rentals, but our caterer was able to arrange all of that for us. It is an outdoor only space - the actual house is a museum and you are not allowed in there for events.
We stayed at the Lodge at Sonoma for two nights. It was amazing. We got upgraded to a two room suite and had plenty of room for everyone to get ready before the wedding. It is expensive, but worth it
