Wedding day was perfect. Weather was gorgeous. Scenery at Fishermen's was lovely - large ponds, geese, swans, huge fish with feeders for kids. Lots of really neat spots for photos. Reasonably priced wedding package deals when compared to many suburban venues.
Wedding mapper was great as we had many guests from out of town. It was nice to be able to provide directions, not only for wedding/hotel, but to local attractions without guests having to hunt a local down to ask.
Alan runs his own show out of Sycamore. Very professional. Played great music, including some off the beaten path songs that we requested. Lots of people on the dance floor all night. Brought the head table drinks during dinner! He really went above and beyond!
Frank Adams is an independent florist based out of Sycamore. He listened to what I wanted, worked with me to stay within my budget, and produced the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements! The guests could not stop talking about the flowers. I let guests take them home at the end of the night and I was told they lasted over a week. I highly recommend Frank!
Ceremony on the deck and reception in The Bridge room. The view from the deck is lovely and this recently remodled room looked great. Lots of great photo opportunities. Corrine, banquet coordinator, was great to work with. Very pleasant and helpful. Waitstaff and bartenders were awesome - very hardworking! Chicken marsala and Fishermen's Trout were delicious. We received many compliments about the Fishermen's Inn. Only downside - the cake vendor is contracted with the wedding package deal - she works out of her home. I wasn't impressed with her portfolio. We weren't able to taste test prior to wedding, she was difficult to connect with prior to wedding, and wasn't able to make the cake design that we wanted without charging us quite a bit extra (what we wanted was not elaborate, the design just called for fondant). She was nice. Cake was pretty (not my dream cake), but wasn't exceptional (design or taste). It would have been nice to work with someone with more artistic ability and have the opportunity to taste the cake beforehand.
Blocked off 20 rooms. No problems. Let us use small banquet room at no charge for rehearsal gathering the night before. Rooms were nice. Night manager, Chuck, was awesome - he let us continue our celebration after hours in the lodge area.
