Jessica and Kevin's Wedding

Our wedding went as perfect as could be expected. I felt like we were able to get quality with all of our vendors, who were all [relatively] affordable as well. Since it was early September during Labor Day Weekend, we figured the weather would be fine (for Ohio standards) and not too cold yet. It ended up being 90 degrees and sunny out! The weather forecast changed every day for the 2 weeks leading up the weather so luckily it turned out well. We did have a backup plan to take photos at the Cleveland Public Library in case it did rain since it was free. We took our photos in Olmsted Falls (which was crowded) since that was a special place for my husband and me. We also got an awesome photo of the skyline from Heritage Park in the flats. There a lot of great textures and industrial backdrops there.

DJs

We had looked at other DJ services that were all really expensive so we asked Coyne Catering if they had any recommendations. Tricia recommended Jim Rio, who had DJed at St. Demetrios for several years and was affordable. It was helpful that he already knew the facility well and how to set up his location and the lighting. We liked that he had several years worth of experience and that he didn’t have the cheesy-DJ radio voice. He made sure he was able to pronounce everyone’s name correctly, had spare equipment in case something went wrong the day of, and was overall very professional and clearly took pride in his work. He did a good job balancing music that we liked and reading the crowd to see what was working. We had so many people on the dance floor and people were dancing until the end. After the wedding he also gave us the setlist he used so we knew all the songs he played from beginning until end.

Cakes/Candies

We tried both Becker's and Wildflour, both of which were recommended to us. The cake was one of the last things we booked so we had limited options. Wildflour would make the cake but were unable to deliver it. Becker's was able to make and deliver it. We booked the cake tasting with Sue Becker. She gave us plenty of cakes, frositng, and fillings to try and they were all delicious. Since we had a 3 tiered cake and a sheet cake, we were able to pick out 5 different flavor combinations, all of which got rave reviews at our wedding. We were also able to show a picture from pinterest and she was able to recreate it. It looked beautiful!

Ceremony Sites

This was the church I grew up in and I always imagined myself getting married there. I was able to make the wedding Christ-centered. The options for the ceremony were either 12:00 pm or 2:00 pm and we opted for the latter. The music director, Mary Pachuta-Willis, also acted as the wedding coordinator and put on a wedding workshop for all the couples to attend. This helped couples pick out music, hear a fantastic soloist, and understand how the ceremony would go before the rehearsal. She was also very helpful in suggesting how much to donate to the church, the priest, the musicians, etc. The Pre-Cana went effortlessly. A couple who had been married for 30+ years was assigned to meet with us several times before we got married and we learned a lot through them as well. The rehearsal was quick and painless the day before. Since we were the only couple getting married that day I was able to use the Gathering Room to get ready. The view from the windows were great. There was also plenty of parking and plenty of space for all of our guests.

Reception Sites

We got married in September and had our reception at St. Demetrios. We liked the modern yet elegant decor of the interior, the price, the time limit (6-midnight) and that they were willing to work with us on the food. We wanted to serve Eastern European food at our wedding, which they didn’t have pirogies or chicken paprikash on their menu. They were more than willing to work with us and even offered to use any of our family recipes. We had so many compliments on the food. Tricia worked with us throughout the process and made sure everything went smoothly the day of. She also gave us recommendations for our DJ, Jim Rio, and cake vendor, Becker’s, as well as for chair cover vendors. Our wedding went so smoothly thanks to Coyne Catering and the vendors they recommended. The location itself was great because it was about 10 minutes away from some hotels in Westlake and there was plenty of parking for all of our guests.
