Our wedding in Excelsior was very unique--even though we live in Minneapolis, it felt like a destination wedding. It's such a cute little town! Wedding Mapper was a good resource to share with our guests. The map was useful and the wedding website was super easy to set up and edit with all the information we wanted to communicate. We'd highly recommend using it!
We had our wedding at the Bird House, and it also served as home base for the bride's family. It was a wonderful experience! Jeanne is great to work with, and went out of her way to make our weekend special. It's such a unique venue if you're looking for a vintage feel.
Captain Terry is very outgoing and accessible, and the boat is lovely. The exclusive caterer, Deli Double, has awesome food and are great to work with!
The venue is gorgeous and the food is delicious. The Cellar Bar can be rented out for private events, and is a cozy intimate location. However--beware. The customer service provided by the "sales" team is atrocious. Andye, the supposed General Manager, is completely unprofessional and unresponsive. Her email correspondence was curt and uniformative, and bordering on rude. After we'd made the deposit, it was impossible to get her to respond, even after multiple attempts to reach her by phone and email, so I asked to work with someone else. Even with my persistance, I received an email from Andye on the Monday prior to the wedding weekend telling me that if I didn't get back to her within 4 hours, my event would be cancelled!!! By the time I'd received the email, it had been 9 hours--talk about a freaked out bride and groom. Who does that!? Terrible customer relations. Tella was somewhat nicer to work with, but also difficult to get a response out of. I found myself dealing with last minute decisions (big decisions, like how to host the bar) in the crazy hectic minutes right before my ceremony rehearsal. It was awful! Overall, if you want to have an event here, try to work with Dermot, the owner.
