DELICIOUS! We had one of their chocolate cakes and it was wonderful. One of the best (if not the best) wedding cake i've had). The only thing is that the flowers were put on at the reception site by our coordinator or the florist (not really sure who did it) and we should have specified how we wanted them arrranged.
She was really great & very flexible with the ceremony. We got to choose all of the readings and created the ceremony to reflect us. She replied promptly and personally to all emails and agreed to meet with us on Kauai before the wedding.
Our photos were beautiful. But we should have made a list of pictures that we wanted (especially group ones after the ceremony) as he is definitely not the type of photographer that is loud and corrals guests (which is nice as his presence as very non-invasive). But, we did forget about some pics that we wanted with the excitement of the day.
Hmm...This vendor was very flexible with getting all of the girls in on the wedding day for nails but it was quite pricey. We brought in a lot of business with 12 guests doing repolishes or manicures and then a few hair styles and a cut. After all of this, my 4 year old niece wanted polish on her nails & we were charged $40 for it! I thought that the 2 minute (maximum!) polish job could have been done for free with all of the others paying high prices for nails. To top it off, my sister & my niece's polish peeled nearly completely off by the next afternoon! That was $80 worth of polishes that did not even last 24 hours!
We bought all of our alcohol here & they were great. We returned unopened bottles with no hassles. Also, we corresponded via email leading up to the event. We also ordered leis for our guests from CostCo & they were beautiful and a great savings on the photographer's lei prices. I picked them up the day before & just refrigerated them & then held up beautifully. We saved a lot of money using CostCo - the open bar option with the venue would have cost us nearly $2000 more.
Overall our day was beautiful and the Plantation was a great place to get married. But the frustrations leading up to the wedding with both the special events staff and the reservations staff was ridiculous! I hesitate to recommend this venue without fair warning. We ended up doing all of the correspondences with the vendors ourselves as we made little/no progress with the wedding coordinator and the wait time on email responses was ridiculously long - several weeks at times. I am not sure what our coordinator did before the day to actually earn the job title. We missed out on the musicians we really wanted because the coordinator dragged her feet for months on the music booking. Very disappointing. We asked for updated invoices over and again before receiving them & had i not gone thru each item meticulously, we would have been over charged for many different things. A mistake made by the coordinator even led to an unpleasant confrontation during the reception! :( The reservations department made mistakes with the room bookings of several guests and then charged our credit card (that they had on file) more than once for stays there dated months before our wedding date! It took several emails to receive the refunds on my credit card! It is a shame that the staff did such a poor job because it really is a beautiful location & great to get the sunset on Kauai as many of the wedding venues are on the east coast, not the west. It is hard to choose the stars because we did have a gorgeous day and our guests had a wonderful time but I do not think that would have been the case had I not taken care of the details from Australia myself.
