Our wedding was really laid back and went off without any major hitches. We had a pretty small, select group of people at the wedding; everyone that I've talked to said that they felt like it was one of the most personal weddings they had ever been to. I hope that you find our information helpful.
We had a really small budget for the wedding, and we managed to pull it all off for well under budget. Our big splurge was the photobooth and worth every penny, but for the most part I think we got out under $8,000.
Blue Dandelion seemed like an excellent choice when we were shopping for our photographers - the couple was very nice and seemed professional. However, they cancelled on us without even offering us the courtesy of a phone call - just a check in the mail with a note saying they would not be available. I was extremely disappointed with the unprofessionalism, as they did not even offer us any photographers to contact to help point us in the direction of finding another photographer.
A friend used them as well, and she was happy with the results, but I would never recommend them to anyone as this shows they are inconsistent at best, and unprofessional at worst.
We were able to find these photographers after our first photographers cancelled on us unexpectedly, and I have to say that I am so glad we went with Ben and Neal!
Ben photographed our wedding, and he was professional, really made an effort to listen to what it was that we wanted, and took great pictures. And he was really outgoing and friendly, and everyone who was at the wedding thought that he was really great. He even stayed on at the reception after he finished, which was totally welcome as he was just a great guy! I would definitely recommend them, as they are both very personable guys!
The only reason that I don't give this 5 stars is because there isn't much of a prep area - it's in a basement and just has one of those portable walls blocking it off. But it's a great venue, really intimate and pretty. And it's really affordable.
The Bar Bistro in the upstairs of the Sundance theaters was a great place for a smallish wedding reception. The food is delicious, Merijoy was really nice and responsive throughout the process.
The only thing that I would say was negative was that the people who worked in the bar started giving us a hard time about leaving at midnight, because when we signed the contract we were told we could use the space until bar time. The bar was continuing to make money, and it would've been better for everyone to stay there a bit later.
Rachael, the manager, was really professional and very nice. The space is an affordable, casual option and everyone really liked the food. The staff at Marigold were very responsive to our requests, and went above and beyond, even making a plain grilled cheese for the children in the bridal party. I would definitely recommend them.
