Bubby's was perfect for us- a great combination of an elegant affair with a laid-back vibe.

Location- beautiful. Open, airy, windows with western exposure. Located right across from the Empire Ferry Fulton State Park with views of the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and NYC sky-line.

Food- excellent. Not your typical catering-hall food. This place is an active restaurant and known for their food. We had one guest declare "best wedding food ever." And we're still getting comments from people about the pie.

Service - awesome. From planning with their event coordinator, to our food tasting and many visits to the space, to our day-of dinner captain, everything was great. The people at Bubby's take a lot of pride in what they do and they are definitely pros.

Only thing to know- since it's a restaurant and in a residential building, there's a strict policy that your event can't start before 6:00 and has to end by 11:00. We had our ceremony at Bubby's and started at 6, so we wish we could have gone another hour or so. They didn't rush us out at 11- we had plenty of time to say goodbye to our guests and for our family to help gather our things, but the last song was definitely over right at 11. So we just continued the party at a bar down the street!

The hotel location is great and everyone at the front desk was super helpful once our guests arrived. The rooms are spacious and the location is very convenient.

But coordinating a block of rooms and dealing with our event contact before-hand was less than ideal. At the time of our wedding, they had a financial guarantee of 80% of your rooms, which makes it difficult to plan. (And this is not the case at many other hotels I found.) And since it's a large, corporate business, any decisions have to go through a bureaucratic process and it can be hard to make a deal or get answers.
