We loved our DJ! We had Amy from Capital Sound DJs, and she did a terrific job. She did a great job as the "MC" that night, but was not overbearing (minimal commentary, no advertising for the company, etc). Our dance floor was packed from the minute the music started until the reception ended.
Craig's Cake Shop is awesome! It was a joy to work with Craig and his staff when deciding which cakes to order, how much, etc. The cake was delicious - we had people commenting all night about how great it was, and some of our guests even took some home (we ordered extra because we love the cake so much and we wanted some left over for the gift opening). The prices are very reasonable too. We had cake for 300 people and we spent under $600. I definitely recommend getting the white chocolate shavings!
Flagstad's work is absolutely beautiful! Because I am such a procrastinator, we didn't stop in until a month before the wedding, but they worked with us anyway and did a great job. I really don't know much about flowers, but I had a few pictures of floral arrangements that I liked. We worked with Peter, who was incredibly helpful. He was familiar with the church where we were getting married and suggested staying away from very dark colored flowers because of the lighting and the depth of the church. When I opened the box with the bouquets on my wedding day, I was incredibly impressed - the colors were perfect!
Also, the prices are reasonable. In another review, it says they are not pushy at all, and that is very true! Peter made suggestions to help us save on our floral costs (i.e., rose petals on the tables rather than flower arrangements, using the bridal party bouquets to decorate the head table, and using a vase of roses for a memorial rather than a huge floral arrangement). The flowers for our wedding (bridal bouquet, bouquets for 5 bridesmaids, rose petals on 25 tables, 8 corsages, 10 boutoniers, memorial flowers, and flowers to decorate the cake) cost under $1000. I highly recommend Flagstads!
Stylists at the Ultimate Spa & Salon did a wonderful job on the bridesmaid hairstyles. As the bride, I had my hair and makeup done by Carissa, who was amazing! I thought everyone looked great. Also, there was an area where we were able to set up champagne and bagels.
I am giving four stars for two reasons:
1. The prices are a little high - if you want to have a practice session, you have to pay for it separately (i.e., some salons include a practice session with the purchase of a bridal style)
2. Because they were so busy, they weren't able to accommodate makeup appointments for the bridal party.
Overall, I think the Ultimate is worth checking out!
Beautiful church. Our officiant was not the main pastor at LM (he was the pastor that I had when attending college at the Lutheran Campus Center, which is attached to LM), but he was wonderful. The premarital counseling was very helpful, and we have already used some of the techniques that we learned through the process. Also, the people in the office are very helpful and accommodating.
We loved the Masonic Center! Food was great, the rooms were beautiful, and we had so many comments about what a wonderful venue it was. Debbie Wagner, who is the wedding coordinator there, was extremely helpful and had many suggestions on vendors.
