Hale Farm & Village, a museum of the Western Reserve Historical Society, is Northeast Ohio's premier outdoor living history museum depicting daily life for mid-19th century residents of the Western Reserve. Located in Bath, Ohio, Hale Farm & Village features dozens of historic structures, farm animals, heritage gardens and craft and trade demonstrations such as glassblowing, pottery-making, and blacksmithing, bringing history to life for visitors of all ages. Nestled in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley, Hale Farm & Village's 90 acres provides a charming, picturesque setting for your special event.
While Hale Farm and Village offers a romantic, classy and stunning backdrop for your wedding, their customer service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
I was sold on the place the summer before when I met with the first rental sales person. Since then, another person had taken over the position and couldn't have cared less about my questions. This person was impossible to reach by phone and almost NEVER returned an email. If an email actually was returned, none of my questions were answered. For every 7 emails I sent, I received 1. For every 5 messages I left, I got a returned call, sometimes by an "assistant".
OK Hale Farm, we get that you are over-extending your staff because you probably make very little money as a non-profit organization providing the community with a historical depiction of mid-1800's life in Ohio. But really? I had to deal with this?
So, I thought everything had been squared away at the final meeting and walk-through the week before, but to our surprise when we arrived to bring instruments to the meetinghouse before the ceremony, we were treated so rudely by a Hale Farm worker that my future father-in-law had words with him! They were fighting on the steps of the church because the sales person either failed to listen to my requests in the first place or relay them to the staff! On our wedding day...ack!
In the end, our wedding was fabulous (because the caterer, A Taste of Excellence, was awesome!) and we got married.
I thought all was finished until today, I found that Hale Farm had charged and extra $500 to my credit card...I have no idea why. I'm still waiting to see what's going on with that.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Hale Farm to have your wedding. It's too bad, it really is a charming and lovely place.
This old church is great! Inside the walls are so white! The rug on the floor was handwoven by the people at Hale Farm. You might be tempted to dress it up with a lot of stuff since it is so white! But don't!!! The stark white is so impressive it doesn't need dressing up. There is room up front for a string quartet, or there is a balcony where you could have a DJ play your music. There isn't a lot of room up on the stage, so a large wedding party might not work out well. We had 3 on each side and that worked OK.
The Gatehouse is a really great place for a wedding! It is sort of broken up into 2 spaces, a foyer and a dining room. There is even space outside if weather and daylight allow. (We did not use any outdoor space.) You can have appetizers and the bar in the foyer, then dinner in the dining room. Then you can move back into the foyer for dessert and dancing! I think it was helpful for the caterers. I highly recommend the Hale Farm wedding experience!
