Schmidt's bakery

We looked around quite a bit for a bakery to do our cake, primarily because all the places that had amazing looking cakes had terrible tasting cake. When we found Schimidts we were so excited because their cake actually tasted amazing! The decoration in wanted on my cake was very simple and elegant. White with a black ribbon at the bottom of each layer, along with a damask type patter on the front of two of the layers. It was fairly simple and they agreed that it would be no problem at all. The day before the wedding they had scheduled a time for me to come check it out to make sure everything looked ok. When we got there it was not even close to done and looked like a hot mess so there was nothing really to approve But she assured us it would be done and look great. Apparently while delivering the cake to my wedding, which was about a 45 minute drive up the mountain in a windy canyon, the cake fell over and 2, maybe 3, of the layers were ruined. So they set up what they could salvage and went back down the mountain and remade the other layers and brought it back up about half way through the ceremony. Question of the day - Why were all the layers already assembled?? They said that's just how they do it. Well, maybe they should rethink that.. When they finally finished with it the cake looked completely diculous. The 2 top layers were too big and didnt fit and the decoration on the cake looked HORRIBLE! A week or two after the wedding we tried to call and complain (several times) and never got any reply at all. They just completely ignored the fact that they ruined my cake and never took any responsibility for it. I would never recommend these people to anyone!

This bakery was great to work with. We were very happy with how the cake tasted. Our only issue was it didn't look like the picture we provided nor what we discussed.

Family owned German Delicatessen and bakery. They do catering for small events. But, their cakes are to die for. Delivery, set up and Anniversary (fresh) cake are included in their fees. If you can dream it they will make it. They don't have email or a website. Phone # 970-667-9811
