The house is absolutely gorgeous. it is huge and every room looks like taken from a movie set, their bathrooms and very big and very pretty. The house made a great scenario for our pictures, even the ones taken with the cellphones look great with such an amazing space in the background.
The staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. breakfast can be request for an extra fee, about 300.000COP per breakfast for about 20 people, includes arepas de huevo, empanadas, fruit, bread, coffee, fresh natural juice, eggs, cheese...
Some of the few thing I didn't like was not having access to the kitchen, neither the huge fridge the have inside. the staff is always at the kitchen and you can't use any of the things at there freely. For storing drinks they have a cooler out of the kitchen that is broken, it takes forever to get any drink cold, we had to buy ice and it melt in an hour inside the cooler. The staff said the fridge is just for food so you can't even save water in there.
For the price the house should include at least access to the fridge and water (you have to buy your own drink water).
Also finding direct information with the house owners or manager is very hard if you are not in Cartagena, they don't have a website not even a number to call, they always do it thru a third person.
We stayed two nights and we didn't have room service in any of the rooms.
Be aware that there is AC only inside the rooms, outside is open so it can gets very warm.
The venue was very pretty in general but it was handled to us in very poor condition.
We have planned to have the reception around the pool area and a pool party the day after the wedding. However, my sister (made of honour) had to be taken to the local hospital after cutting her foot with a broken tile.... Unfortunately there were many broken tiles around the pool and they were very sharp. After the incident I requested for yellow warning signs to be put on top of the holes but for my surprise there were no more than 2. The same wedding night very hazardous chemicals were put on the pool by the house employees and they did not put any sign of "cleaning in progress" or "do not use the pool" so my guess ended up jumping to the pool without knowing the risk they were taking...... The owner of the property did not offer any solution so that we could feel safe on Sunday for our pool party.
I'm still waiting for an apology or for the owner to show any concerns about my sister's health but I have not received even an email.
The pictures do not do this venue justice. It was far more impressive in person. Perfect for a "smaller" wedding for 50-60 ppl (although fits more), keeping the "intimate" feel however still extremely spacious with various room options for guests (two roof terraces, hidden "cave" bar, courtyard with pool, cocktail room etc.
Casa Estrella is beautiful. I felt transported in time, living my wedding dream in this amazing Spanish estate. The house has been renovated so it still looks very retro but with modern details.
The staff is awesome, they are great cooks and they made us feel so very special. If you choose this location, make sure you ask for their arepas de huevo for breakfast :)
