The Farmhouse at The People’s Light and Theatre has hosted hundreds of extraordinary events and is proud to have earned Main Line Magazines award for “Best Location for a Wedding Reception on the Main Line".
When I contacted the venue, Bob was very responsive. The $115 pp was out of our budget. Bob accommodated and we got the price $84 pp. For the tasting you pick 2/3 entrees that you want to taste, not all the options. The first tasting didn't happen. We arrived and they had forgotten to put us on the schedule. 2nd tasting, the food was not good. The risotto was too mushy and too crunchy, rice was undercooked, and entrees were bland. We ended up having to send the venue recipes to use. Communication with the coordinator, Kyle, was not good. She didnt email when she said she would and after emailing her, told me she was very busy and that caused the lack of response. She did not always answer my questions or would ask me things that I had previously answered in other emails. The communication was so bad that my mother contacted the venue asking if Bob could be my point person. Things did not improve. The venue has one email account for ‘the farmhouse’ not individual email accounts, there was a delay in response with Bob as well. Kyle would sometimes respond that she alerted Bob about my emails. At one point, I had to tell Bob I would set up a time to drop payment in order to get a response to my emails. During all of this, we are still trying to negotiate a price pp. I got different prices from Kyle and from Bob. I didn’t know the price pp until about a month before the wedding. My seating chart was a disaster. I wasn't emailed the floor plan and then I was emailed one for too few tables the day it was due. 2 days after it was completed to the best of my ability given the incorrect number of tables, Bob emailed me an updated plan with table numbers moved around and tells me that I need to change people’s table numbers. With the escort cards already printed, I informed him that I was re-numbering the tables because it was unfair to fault me for his error. My wedding day comes. I hear that Ellen is being rude to my guests and parents, telling them that they are not allowed to talk to people. My mother reported to me that Ellen (Bob’s wife & CFO), “yelled” at her for talking to family. Entree service began 30 minutes late. They appeared to be quite understaffed. I paid for 3 bartenders. I am not sure there were 3 Family reports seeing Kyle and Bob behind the bar serving and that bartenders were pulled to serve food. I was told I would have 1 staff per 20 guest. That did not appear to be the case Since the food was so delayed we requested & were given 30 extra minutes. We had to pay the DJ extra. When I emailed the Farmhouse after the wedding telling them that I was planning on writing a review and wanted to give them the chance to reimburse me for the DJ and also for a $75 curtain rental that was to be used at the outdoor ceremony but was not hung due to the rain, Ellen did give me that money back. If I did not say anything about this, the venue would have been content to let me pay for something that I did not receive (the curtain, and extra charges I incurred on the DJ. The staff did not make me feel special or like I was a priority. I felt like I was just a way to make money. My wedding was not inexpensive (over $15,000 to the venue). I wish this venue had a more experienced staff that knew how to be efficient and on top of things instead of making things worse with poor communication and disorganization. It is unfortunate that such an amazingly beautiful venue does not have a staff that matches.
Awesome! Amazing food, amazing decor, amazing setting! And the barstaff was very flexible:)
