DO NOT GO TO NORTHGATE!!!!!
(I gave it ZERO stars for a REASON.)
First, I just read on another site that NGCC has " Professional and courteous staff" & provides "a full-time wedding consultant." Hmm... after you read below, you'll see as to why I'm confused (and frustrated) that they're promoting themselves as such.
I was Maid of Honor at my sister's wedding this past Saturday, 06.14.14, held at NGCC. I have never been to a more unorganized, unprofessional, dishonest venue.
We were scheduled to arrive at 9a. When we did, the club was locked and staff was MIA. When we finally did get in, nothing was setup/prepped for the ceremony.
MISTY SANTIAGO, the Event Coordinator at NGCC and our contact through the entire event, who was supposed to arrive at 9a, was no where to be found, and ignored all of our calls. (She actually had the audacity to say we never called. Clearly, she’s unaware of technology these days, as we have screenshots to prove the calls were made.)
Since Misty was MIA, I - the MAID OF HONOR - had to run around & get things setup. This proved tough, as the only people at the venue were TAMMY DOWNEY (Membership Director) and CLAUDE, and Tammy kept saying “THAT’S NOT MY JOB” whenever I asked a question; even when merely asking for water. (Very "courteous.")
The club was also having an open house, which Claude said would be done at 2p, at which time they’d setup for the wedding. The event ended at 3p, and did not clear out until 3:30p.
On the itinerary, which Misty received (but did not read, as I found out when she began asking ME questions as to what needed to be done), it said pics would begin at 2:30p for groomsmen and 3:30p for bridal party. However, due to the disorganization of the ENTIRE NGCC team, my sister was unable to take these, & as a result, had to take them in the DRESSING ROOM.
When Misty did arrive (at 3:30p!! -- she "snuck in the back so no one would see her"), she let me know that everyone she works w/ are “PIECES OF SHIT.” (There's that "professionalism.") & since she didn't read the itinerary, I ended up having to oversee HER work. (She couldn’t even get the number of CHAIRS correct - which was CLEARLY noted on the itinerary…that she didn’t read.)
This continued ALL day:
- no signage was placed outside bride's dressing room; many random people kept bursting in, trying to come thru
- specialty drinks my sister requested (& Misty promised would be served) were not
- food ran out and no one refilled the trays
- I personally had to chase down the bartenders multiple times b/c guests were in line at the bar and they'd left
- I also had to hop BEHIND the bar at one point b/c they decided to leave (again)
- salads my sister and her husband decided on at the club were not served
- the remainder of my sister’s wedding cake was never given to us (I’m assuming they ate it? Threw it out?)
- cake was not served to all of the guests
- the area we were promised (BY MISTY) for the groomsmen to change in was never setup (they had to change in the locker room)
- Misty left at 8:30pm and didn’t tell anyone
I actually (sadly) could go on, but I believe you get the idea.
When my mother went in yesterday to inform CHRIS (the GM) of the above, he told her she was a liar. Professional AND courteous. Why would we lie about any of this? What would we gain from that? He then said he’d cover the 2 hr. late breakfast (mind you “breakfast” = celery, carrot sticks, one cheese, and about 10 teeny tiny finger sandwiches), but then recanted that today, and said he’d only pay for half of that.
As alarming & disappointing as THAT was, it makes perfect sense as to why his staff acted/acts they way they did: MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO.
Needless to say, I would not recommend this venue to ANYONE - wedding or otherwise. (Unless you like paying someone else TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars for YOU to do all the work.)
BEWARE!!!! NGFCC is a DISASTEROUS venue for a wedding!
Their "event planner" is totally incompetent and useless. Our wedding would have been a complete flop if we had not had our own private wedding planner. The entire staff was unprofessional and incompetent, from the venue not being open on time the morning of our wedding, breakfast not being served to the wedding party on time(they could not even manage to provide water for the bride), food was not refreshed on a timely manner and guests thought we had run out of food, the bartender was not always behind the bar, the cake was not plated correctly; and this is to only mention a few things. Shockingly, the staff continually sought members of the wedding party out throughout the day and made "backstabbing" comments about each other to us.
Informing the general manager of concerns is simply not an option, as we discovered. His response was to deny most of what WE ourselves witnessed and experienced.
STAY AWAY from this venue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are far too many reputable venues available to risk one of the most important days of your life at this one.
