This place was such a major disappointment. It’s a neat old house with a beautiful view of the ocean. It would have been perfect, except for the bat infestation, poison ivy, bed bugs, and full septic tank. There were tons of bats (dead and alive) in the basement, another bat was flying around in the living room while we were having dinner and then another one in the bedrooms around 4am the night of the wedding. Guests had to get the rabies vaccine--9 shots over 28 days. It was a totally painful and awful experience—I spent hours in the ER on my honeymoon after a bite mark was found on my ankle. I called the Board of health and they went to the house with an exterminator, but this was after our stay. There were also bed bugs or bat bugs (apparently there is such a thing from bats) in the beds. They allow guests to avoid a $100 fee by washing the sheets themselves. Judging by the bed/bat bugs, they are simply folding the sheets and putting them back--not washing them which is completely disgusting. The septic tank (down by the tennis courts) had a horrible smell coming from it the night of our rehearsal dinner. Just as guests were arriving and told to park by the tennis courts they were welcomed by the smell of a full septic tank. The septic tank was pumped the day we were to check out—clearly this should have been done before we arrived. And the poison ivy was no joke. The entire property is covered in poison ivy—all the paths to the water, even at the rocks at the end of the path, there was a huge patch of poison ivy. We had to wipe down with rubbing alcohol, though several guests did still get poison ivy anyway. All of these are fixable issues, but I would not recommend this place until all of these issues are addressed properly.
