Description

In 1735, the original building that was to become the Buckeye Tavern was purchased for ten pounds, thirteen shillings and three pence. Since then, it has offered food and lodging for over two and a half centuries.

Through the 1800’s, the reconstructed building operated as an inn and hotel. Once known as “The East Macungie Hotel” and later as “The Load of Mischief”, the site eventually became “The Buckeye Tavern” that we all know today.

A visit to the tavern will offer a poignant reflection of earlier times in the village of Macungie and the days gone by at this local roadhouse. Many of the original documents and photographs, as well as the original frames themselves, were recovered from the attic and basement of this very building during its renovation. We are proud to continue an American tradition of fun, hospitality and fine food!

The new owners of the tavern look forward to welcoming you to The Buckeye. We promise to provide quality service and an enjoyable experience for our customers, both old and new.
