I am the mother of the bride who's daughter just got married at Silver Swan on October 9, 2010. I wanted to give you all my input. Taylor was very slow to respond to e-mails. This was during their recent renovations. We were fine with the price. We had a sit down dinner and open bar and passed around appetizers.
The actual day of the wedding was almost perfect with the exception of a shuttle not picking up a group of people waiting and that included the father of the bride.(Do not use Extraordinare Limousine) The ceremony started late but Taylor kept me calm by putting me and the grooms parents in a cool place with some wine. The ceremony, weather, staff and reception were fantastic. Everyone raved about it all.
Then 5 days later, we discovered that people had become ill. Out of 160 guests, 37 got sick. The health department is currently investigating. We do not know the cause yet. It might be virus related. I am not saying the venue is at fault at all. Nothing has been proven. I hope it turns out to be a virus and not food poisoning although all of the food from our wedding was long gone when the health departement got there.
Other than that, if you call Taylor versus e-mailing her you will be fine. The setting is perfect.
This place it the best! My mother and I checked out all competitor locations (CBBC and Kent Manor) and this place was by far the best in price and location. Taylor the coordinator was phenomenal. More then once I stopped by to tour the location with different family members. Taylor was always there and more then willing to answer any questions we had. We booked May of 2009 for a April 2010 wedding. During this time frame of booking the space and the actual date of the event, there was both a change in chef and the location went though a huge renovation. Both changes were again phenomenal in seamless transition and certainly an upgrade in decor-I liked it when we booked it! Our original menu was upgraded and the interior space was opened up more and painted a lighter color. I was lucky enough to be the first bride to christen the renovations. Rehearsal went great the day before. Taylor was a great guide on where to be and when to do what. Our minister was not able to attend the rehearsal but it really made no difference with her guidance. The day of our wedding was perfect!! I arrived early and changed into my dress there with my bridesmaids. The house boat (yes, house boat! no extra change, sitting room, sink, mini refrigerator and full bathroom) had wine and cheese and more h'ordeurves awaiting us when we arrived and the staff frequently checked on us to see if we needed anything. The ceremony was on the lawn over looking bay. Overcast but still beautiful! Dinner was one of the best meals I have ever had at a wedding (guest also expressed this). I can not express how many compliments we have received about our wedding. Everyone we have seen since our wedding has given numerous compliments on how outstanding the food was and how amazing the location was. Taylor and her team surpassed all my expectations.
***Side note: Since our wedding an old friend from high school by coincidence was married at the Silver Swan. He too expressed how great the venue and staff were on their big day. AND a co-worker is also getting married there in May 2011.
Our daughter married this year at Silver Swan. We were very fortunate to be the first wedding after the renovations. Taylor ,the event director showed us the location and we both loved it. I found Taylor to be most helpful in local recommendations hotels, tranportation, cake etc. She was always available for phone calls, texts and so much more. I am retired special event director from a Washington, D.C.event site. and I knew I was in a professional's hands from the room presentation on. She even gave me her personal cell number the week before the wedding. We had a tasting a month outside the wedding and the food was great. Taylor was very kind to allow us to dropp off linens, placecards etc. days before the wedding. Day of the wedding she was even better than I expected. Our group was large and Taylor made us feel we were the stars of the day. I was so pleased to see the renovations that far exceeded my expectations. We were so pleased that I have recommended the location to several friends. Two have reserved Silver Swan Bayside. The food was also 5 stars. Presentation was simple, elegant and best I have ever tasted. Our ceremoney was on the beach and Taylor held all our hands to facilitate our agenda. Not only did I enjoy the wedding but all the guests and more important the bride and groom had the time of their lives. Thanks to Taylor and all her professional staff the ceremoney and reception was a huge successful. People are still talking about it all these months later. Anyone would be very lucky to reserve Silver Swan Bayside because all the staff make you fell you are the only event not a factory like other locations.
