The gothic splendour of St Mary Star of the Sea ensures that it is a very popular wedding church. It is one of the largest parish churches in Australia, and certainly the most elaborate.
The Grand Pipe Organ of is another unique feature of St Mary’s. It was the first pipe organ in Australia to be classified by the National Trust and it is well regarded as an instrument of national importance. It is Australia’s largest nineteenth century organ still intact, and with 2,218 pipes it is capable of any musical mood.
