Claim ListingIt's a beautiful, historic venue. The chandeliers, fireplaces, and the hardwood floors are amazing. We had 80+ guests and seated all of them. It was a little tight, but our friends and family are from the Northeast and accustomed to "sitdown" receptions.
Wonderful place for a Charleston wedding reception. The ballroom is beautiful and needs practically no additional decorations. Mr. Skip Johnson was a very pleasant person to work with as well. We were allowed to use the facilities tables and chairs. We had approximately 125 guests therefore we were not able to seat all of them. However, the room was capable of sitting most of them and additional cocktail tables filled in the empty areas... still leaving plenty of room for a dance floor, DJ, buffet with stations, a cake table & a gift table. You simply cannot go wrong with this reception location!

Wonderful large ballroom. Very Charlestonian. Catered food was brought in. Definitely reccommend. Also good for a reception if smaller than 200 people.
The South Carolina Society Hall is exquisite. It hardly even needs any decorating. The building was completed in 1802 and the grand ballroom is truly a romantic place to hold a reception. However, you will need to rent EVERYTHING, which can get pretty expensive, and the ballroom is only really big enough to hold less than 100 people. We had 60 or so and it was the perfect number. I don't think there is a prettier venue in Charleston.
