You may have seen this done before, but we did a framed photo and had our guests sign the mat. It looks beautiful hanging on our living room wall and I enjoy reading and re-reading what people wrote.
My daughter just did a "different" guestbook. Her and her fiance made a photobook off of shutterfly.com. they did every other page of pics of themselves and left every other page blank for guests to sign. That way the guests could leave well wishes, not just signatures! Make sure you use a pen specially for slick surfaces ( Hobby Lobby)
Take polaroids of all the guests, get a photobooth and have guests leave one of their pictures, use any large object - something that you really like - that you can display later in your house (vinyl record, guitar, wine bottle, picture frame, quilt squares, large ceramic flowerpot, small end table that you can varnish over afterward...). Just have fun!
We did one of those plates where the guests sign it in a special marker then you take it home and bake it, now it hangs in our living room.
They have a lot of cute ones to choose from
Here is their website:
Buy a nice scenery book from Borders. We chose one with lots of ocean pictures and white space where people could write messages.
We had our first date at a baseball game so we are getting a Cardinals jersey with our last name and 09 as the number and will have people sign that. We can frame it and put it in our sports room in the basement.
guestbookstore.com is all you need to know. I am having them at each place setting for guests to fill out throughout the evening. Easy, adorable, and unique.
Take a look at www.guestbookstore.com. They have really cute fill in the blank forms for each guest.
I am thinking of a large photo frame; have your guests write their names on it with a permanent marker. Another idea is to get an extra large plate from Color Me Mine and let the guests sign their names and take it back to Color Me Mine and bake/process it with clear glaze. In this way, these psudo-guestbook can be always visible instead of covered with dust in the shelf.
I bought a plain black scrap book and put funny pictures of us on every other page, leaving the blank ones in between for guests to sign. I put a ribbon on the front that matched the ribbon I used for the place card holders, and used one of those ostrich feather pens because we had peacock feathers and white ostrich plumes in our our bouquets and centerpieces. It looked great and guests enjoyed the humorous pics.
I am considering doing an engravable guest book. There are a lot of different things you can do with it depending on your preference. Here is the website:
