We had an American/Asian style wedding in June. My fiance and I are more Americanized, but our parents are more traditional. We had our ceremony at the Ranch Golf Club (San Jose, CA) and our reception at Asian Pearl Restaurant (Fremont, CA). There are various venues (ie. Club Auto Sport, Casa Real at Ruby Hill and other wineries/golf clubs) that allow outside catering either from their preferred vendor or a caterer of your choice. I know Fu Lam Mum caters the traditional 8-10 course chinese plates and is good. Just a heads up, catering an Asian meal outside of a restaurant may cost you more. Only because the venue will tap on a service fee for hosting the event.
In terms of Chinese restaurants like Dynasty, you can turn in restaurant into an appealing place if you're will to put out the moolah. I've been to several weddings at Dynasty and if you drape the walls, you can easily take away the look and feel of a restaurant. There's also Ming's (Palo Alto) and ABC Seafood (Milpitas).
Attached is a picture of our reception at Asian Pearl.
Hope this helps!
