Yes, I've attended a wedding in the little church several times. My father is a minister and officiated several marriages at the little church and outside in the park. I've never attended a reception at that location. I believe it's a rather small venue, very quaint. This place holds very dear memories for me. The historical stone house was the homeplace of Dr. & Mrs. Wilson, along with their two children. My grandmother was the children's governess and she passed away pleacefully in her sleep while staying in that home. This historical park has many, many stories - all wonderful!
Thanks for replying! I fell in love with the little chapel. it is so beautiful to me. and my fiance proposed to me in the gazeebo. Im just worried about my reception not being what i really want it to be. im seriously considering just having my wedding at the church and going to a different location for the reception.
I'm very familiar with the area. I know just about all the venues in the N. Dallas/Carrollton/FB area. Maybe I can give you some info. What type of recept. are you wanting and how many guests? Oh, I'm not trying to solicit your business. I own a construction company, but happen to know alot about wedding and events. It's kind of my expertise.
:) well im having between 75 and 100 guests...probably closer to 75. Im pretty sure i have the dj situation worked out because my family owns a couple of bars and they will be able to get me a good deal on some good djs. Having a place to dance is important to me. i am not really looking to have a sit down dinner unlsee the price is right. maybe just cake, punch and appetizer type food. I would like to serve alcohol. but im planning to have an afternoon wedding. i just wanna dance and enjoy my family and close friends. :)
I know an awesome local DJ, his name is John Stricklan 972-979-9877, he's dj'd a large halloween party at my home and my son's wedding this past december. He's great! A beautiful venue for that size reception, especially for an afternoon wedding is the clubhouse at Castle Hills. It's not a "country club", but overlooks a gorgeous golfcourse, has a very workable menu, not too pricey, allows alcohol. It's in North Carrollton. My husband just said about 12-15 minutes from the FB historical park. I've attended a wedding recpt. and large baby shower at this location. I haven't booked a party at this location lately, but in the past they didn't charge a location/useage fee for the room, just the food and alcohol. That may have changed, but worth checking out.
