Hello all,

My wedding is 2 wks away!! ahhhhhh!!! So excited and nervous all together! I wanted to ask if any of you have taken the trip to one of the islands, namely La Isla del Pirata? This is the island our wedding planner, Caribe Cordial recommends but I went on Tripadvisor.com and I saw very mixed reviews about this place. Some were very negative too. So, I wanted to know if any of you had gone here and if so, How was it? Was it expensive? Was it fun and nice? Were there no annoying vendors hassling you every five minutes? lol..pls let me know asap..I need to plan this already! Thanks alot! Your input is greatly appreciated.

If you want to stay in an island I rather recommend you to stay in Decameron Baru, you get really nice water too. The island la isla del pirata or playa blanca are islands I would recommend for a day trip because their waters are beautiful to see but I would not recommend you to stay there. This hotels are normally over price and what you get is not worth it.
There are lots of vendors and bunch of mosquitos mostly at night. I would recommend you also to stay in the city and just visit the islands in a day trip so you can enjoy the beautiful view.
I am from Colombia and had been a couple of times to the islands, had never stay for longer than a day but I consider it just enough since I know what would it be like at night for relatives that decided to stay once and were completely eaten for mosquitos in just one night.

I agree, take a day trip to the islands. Almost all islands have annoying vendors, but some islands have the vendors set up tables in a certain area, where the tourists can visit if they want to, but they can't follow you around or bother you while you're laying on the beach. Check Isla del Encanto, I've been there and am pretty sure that's one of the islands with that policy. We went to a "new" island called Gente de Mar, and it was absolutely amazing. We had the island completely to ourselves, had an open bar, and ceviche and lunch were all included for about $100 per person. Not many people have heard of it and so they may not know how to get in contact with the owner. Our WP, La Chiche, suggested it and set it all up for us. It was a seemless adventure that my guests will never forget!

Good luck and have fun!!

Hi,
Congrats n your wedding!! ...I will bring the guests of my wedding to an island for a day. I am still undecided btwn Isla del Encanto or Isla Sport Baru. These islands are a little more expensive than Isla Pirata, but as you I read the reviews of Isla Pirata and I am not totally happy w them. Please let me know where you decided to go and your thoughts about the island. Thanks and good luck!
Mimi

Hello there... congratulations on your wedding!!! So, just wanted to ask you which island did you end up going for the day and how did you and your guest liked it? My wedding is in about 3 weeks and I'm also using Caribe Cordial. Anyway, Any feedback you can share about your recent experience would be appreciated. Do's and Don'ts and anything else you can think of.
Gracias y Felicitaciones de nuevo,
A
