Hello, My name is Lucinda Graham, and I am a Wedding Officiate serving all of Cape Cod. I don't recall Sea View in Dennis,(The Dennis Inn is nice, but I think now you have to rent the whole place out to have a wedding there.) but I have Officiated weddings at Ocean Edge, Wchymere Harbor in Harwich, and The Captain Linnell House in Orleans. All are good Venues, depending on what you are looking for. Ocean Edge is lovely, and has a huge ballroom for dinner and dancing. Your daughter could either get married on the beach, or under the huge Linden tree in front of the mansion. The beach is fairly narrow, but a lovely view, and a great spot for a casual wedding.I also think they have another place in front of the mansion your daughter could get married. The Carriage House is part of the Mansion where one could have a reception, and am sure they have a plan B if the weather is rainy. All in all, lovely. They even have a brand new(heated if necessary) terrace bar which could possible be used for cocktails. They do have a couple of rooms upstairs used for smaller weddings.
Wchymere Harbor is beautiful. For weddings outside(between the building and the condos,) is just gorgeous, plush green lawn, and it overlooks the harbor where boats are coming and going. They usually have cocktails on the patio right beside where the wedding was, which I believe is covered. Dinner would be served inside in a great room. There are new owners there, and they have done a wonderful job.
Captain Linnell House is also lovely. You would eat in different rooms, but cocktails and dancing are in the same room. Shelly(the Coordinator) has a few nicknames, but she runs a tight ship, and does a great job letting everyone know where to be at exactly what time. The outside Gazebo is lovely, but I am not sure how many chairs the grass would take. Shelly would know that answer, and many more.
Another thought might be Wequassett Inn on Pleasant Bay in Chatham. That is also a great spot. Weddings are usually held down near the water in just the perfect spot.
Wow, there are alot of places to look into. I can recommend any of them except the Sea View in Dennis.
Sincerely, Lucinda Graham http://www.weddingsbydesign.info
thank you so much for all your information! My daughter just returned from the cape today after seeing all of the above. when you said you could not recommend anything about the Sea View was that for quality or not enough information. thanks again very informative!
Hi again, Yes I have been to Sea View. I looked it up, and recognized it. Actually I just poked through the windows and saw the deck. It looks nice and I believe is fairly new. I have not done a wedding there so do not know about the quality. Not really a place to get married there. Unless you did it on the deck or in the main room. I seemed to like the other vendors better when it comes to having a wedding there, plus the reception. (I am just going on looks and accomodations now!). It might just work for you?? As I say,it depends on what you want. Will you have a chance to look at these places?? I would be happy to do any running around you want me too. Most of the places are closed now, but will be open in the spring. Don't forget if you need an Officiate, www.weddingsbydesign.info Cindy
If you have any other questions, just ask away. As I mentioned I would be happy to look into any of these places further if you would like.
