Hi Jim, congratulations to you and your fiancee. I am actually getting married in Cartagena in December also. I wanted to do things WAY in advance, so I sent out my save the dates in March, and asked people to RSVP on our wedding website at that time. I simply just wanted an idea of how many people were THINKING of coming. Barely anyone RSVPed b/c it was so early in advance and they were not absolutely sure that they would make it. My fiancee and I helped our friends to find their airfare, and we encouraged them to book early b/c flights to Cartagena are limited. By now, all our family and our closest friends living in the US have booked flights, so now they are confirmed, even though they haven't officially RSVPed. We are planning on sending out invitations in July/August and I'm guessing at that point the rest of the guests will confirm if they are coming or not. Hope this helped. Caroll
I got married in Cartagena in Feb 2011, around 70 guests were flying from abroad (Europe, Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, etc), so I sent out a save the date card with a RSVP note in July 2010. We found that most people replied within 1 month confirming their assistance because it is a long trip and people have to plan it in advance. We had very few last minute confirmations to be honest.
