My budget is similar. Check out Trumps catering, they own the Georgian where my reception is. (http://www.trumpscatering.com/) I also know that can get married on Herty field for pretty inexpensive as well as the chapel that is on UGA's north campus. The Foundry Inn and spa can also be reasonable. They have a catering facility and ceremony and reception venues on site. (http://www.foundryparkinn.com/)
The photographer we are using is Shannon Wright, www.shannonseye.net as wedding photographers go she is fairly reasonable. You can also try craigs list. I have had a few friends in the past find their wedding vendors through them. Another great way to find out local information is theknot.com's local boards. On the Atlanta board, I found my photographer, a day of coordinator, florist and many other helpful things about planning a wedding.
hey. My budget was 15k. We are getting married at my parents church, and reception at marswood hall. I am using Barry Mobley of finephotography.net and believe it or not, the holiday inn for catering. Check them out for off site catering. I personally think they have trumps quality for a fraction of the cost. Plus, you will LOVE the manager, Rayna. We are having a seated meal. Publix is doing my cake and always always is doing my flowers. I have 200 guests. I am slightly under budget. Use anyone on the athens wedding professionals website. Another photographer with a really good eye is Courtney Rosen but she is just starting out.
I had an even smaller budget than you, so stick to it - it is possible! We got married at the Founders Memorial Garden on UGA's north campus (site fee: $1600). I looked at several other places in town but decided on this one because it is really special to my husband and me. The Foundry Park Inn is very nice, but you do have to use their catering. The State Botanical Garden is gorgeous with several venue choices, but they tend to get booked up early. On-Campus options also include Herty Field, the Chapel, and the Georgia Center. The Classic Center downtown has lots of choices of rooms (and not just conference-y looking ones). Finally, Ashford Manor in Watkinsville is beautiful and all-inclusive.
We used Marti Schimmel of Marti's at Midday for our catering, and I recommend her highly if you're still looking. We had a family friend do our photography, but Athens is an artsy community with lots of modern talent. I agree with the others - check the knot.com, google Athens photography, or even check with the art school at UGA.
Congrats and good luck!
Thank you all for such great help! I already have a plan to visit Athens this weekend and go to a few places you all have mentioned. Another place I was looking for was a Farm with a big barn outside of Athens that has events, does anyone know of this place??? I don't think it's a plantation home or anything.
We got married at Carl House. It is just outside Athens in Auburn/Carl on Atlanta Hwy and their website is www.carlhouse.com
Ask for Denise and tell her Patrick and Leah Smith referred you.
Our photographer was Eric Little. He was great and does both photo and video if you want. His website is www.oldgloryproductions.com and his email is [email protected]
Tell Eric that Patrick and Leah Smith referred you.
We had a very similar budget. We got married at the Botanical Gardens - Day Chapel. It's absolutely beautiful. Acutally all of the venues they have are great and reasonably priced. We had our reception at the Foundry, which we thought was incredibly convient. Most of our guests and the both of us were coming from out of town, so staying at the Foundry made it great. They have a spa where you can get your nails and make-up done. Our guests really enjoyed having everything in one place. Plus it's walking distance from downtown. We even worked it out so our guests could get into the concert that was playing at the music venue at the Foundry after our reception. The catering was great, they had many many options and the food was good. They have "kings suites" that are great for the honeymoon night or even for the whole weekend.
As for photographer, check out www.timharman.com. He is my friend from high school and does amazing work. He is very reasonably priced for his quailty of work and is great to work with. He has all of his weddings on his website if you want to check out his work. I highly recommend him. If you are an artist, I think you'd appreciate his style.
G'luck with your wedding! Hope this helps!
Ok yeah, I am really excited now! We have booked the UGA Botanical Gardens for our Reception site!! Not sure if we'll be using it for both ceremony and reception or just the one! BUT I am really excited and would love to hear if anyone has had their reception there?? Maybe give me some pointers or ideas? I will be doing the table center piece and it will be an evening wedding! Thank you all for your help!
Oh and any points for catering there??
I am getting married in Athens and am using Trumps Catering. They seem very helpful. I know they have a restaurant at the botanical gardens.
Drying the hair through the hairdryer isn't a simple take. You have to require carefulness for this. A lot of warmth and too low haet brings about the insufficiency. So they need to check best uk essay writing service reviews and attempt to keep up the warmth at the center level and keep your hair dry without any problem.
